 Often the subject of much discussion and argument, slipmats are as essential a part of a DJ's setup as the deck or mixer. The beauty of slipmats is that they're cheap consumables
and can be changed as often as you like until you find the ones you really like.
What I like about slipmats is that almost anyone can make their own or indeed buy custom made ones with your own ugly face on if you want. But there are established favourites to choose from such as Butter Rugs, Slikmats, SewerSlimes, SicMats plus a few lesser known others.
It's all down to personal preference really. If you feel the need to shell out 20 large on a couple of thin fabric disks then do it - if they work for you. However, you may feel just as comfortable butchering a pool table at your local youth club to get the green felt covering. It's all about experimentation.
