What I'm talking about in this section is anything that required computer control. Here's the basic principle of pretty much all the solutions on the market: some form of timecoded vinyl played on your regular turntable - the sound from which would be processed through some sort of soundcard and pushed into your computer. From there, the software takes over, allowing you to assign most audio formats to each channel (or the same track for a juggle). The audio is then pushed back out through the soundcard to the mixer. A simple process I think you'll agree but it's obviously not as straightforward as it seems.
