Like most products in the tablist world, one brand tends to dominate - Technics for turntables, Vestax for mixers and in the case of cartridges, Shure is the acknowledged leader in this field with it's M-447's. But other equally capable options are available.

For a very long time, Stanton held their own in the DJ scene with the now legendary Stanton 500 carts. Indeed 20 years ago, they were the very first pro carts I ever bought. Times have changed but Stanton are still making some very good carts including the 500 AL II. But there are a few more players in the scene, most notably Shure and Ortofon. The latter in particular have hooked up with Thud Rumble - QBert and Yogafrog's company - and some new carts will soon be released on an ever gear hungry DJ community.

Check ProfessorBX's head to head comparison of Shure's M44-7 and M44G carts.
