A message from his family.
"ALBERTO ARELLANO JR 7/26/80 - 11/20-05 Our beloved son Alberto Arellano Jr. was born to Alberto Sr. and Minnie on July 26, 1980 in Modesto, Ca.. At the age of 2 yrs old we moved to Stockton, Ca. where he attended Stockton Unified School District. At the age of 17 he started his own business (SqratchAttack.com) which he was very successful at and to this date his business still remains. He graduated from Stagg High School in 1998 with honors. He attended Delta College for two years and later transferred to San Francisco State University where he received his BA degree with honors in Anthropology and a minor in Urban Anthropology. He worked for the City of Oakland as a City Planner and was always praised by his fellow co-workers. While working at this job Albert along with some friends produced a record album and was working on a second album. Albert was on his way to Law School with his goal of becoming a Corporate Lawyer. Albert had a passion for baking, cooking, and trying different multi-cultural foods and his motorcycle. He played Ice Hockey for four years and was very successful at the sport. He was very driven and when he set his mind on something he always accomplished his goal. He leaves behind his parents, two brothers, and a sister. Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, 5 nephews and 1 niece. He is loved by so many friends and family. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten."

This really hit me hard because I mailed him just a couple of months ago.
He seemed like a really great person and I feel bad for not being able to meet him in person. He did a whole lot for the scratch community ...

Man, I don't know how to take this. Back around 2002, Zeevee gave me a start doing reviews for Sqratchattack.com, with me at the last minute jumping ship to do stuff with Turntable Radio instead. I have met VERY few people as determined as him to help out with the community, and for that matter very few people with as big a heart as him. I wish his family and friends nothing but the best in what is such a difficult time.

Man what a tragic loss! I was just speaking with him a few months ago. I was literally floored when I just read the news. Zeevee was such a honorable, lovable and beautiful person. He always looked out for me and fellow scratch nerds. This is a major loss. Words don't convey enough.
My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and close friends during this holiday season. Not to preach or anything, but I recently lost someone VERY near and dear to me and there were a few bible versus that really spoke volumes to me personally. I think they are applicable in this situation as well...
Ecc 7:4 “Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us.”
Ecc 7:14 “Enjoy prosperity while you can. But when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. That way you will realize that nothing is certain in this life.”
Ecc 9:11 “I have observed something else in this world of ours. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise are often poor, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being at the right place at the right time.”
May God bless his family.

Zeevee was my little brother and still to this day I can't believe it. He was a very special person that would help out anyone in need and it is really nice to hear from all of the people he has touched along the way, from highschool friends to dj's to riders, he never had a dull moment. He will always be missed for the honest man that he was and for the man he would have become. I would like to thank all of you for sharing your stories with us. Everytime my family comes across a new posting on the web that shows how much he gave to his friends it really is appreciated by all of us. So please keep sharing and never forget. You know the common theme that I was hearing from our family and close friends was that maybe the world just wasn't ready for him. And as for his web site we are still not sure what is going to happen with it because he did all of it on his own so we really don't know where he left off. Again I would like to say THANK-YOU for sharing with us from all of the ARELLANO family.

sleepy,
if you have a moment, please hit me up in email: djgutter@djgutter.net
thanks,

As a biker myself, I deeply empathise with his family. It's easy to think, "that bike killed him". Know this though, he died doing something he loved. Rest in Peace Zeevee.

When Excess called me and told me this I couldnt believe it. Zeevee was one of the nicest peeps in the industry and was always on the look out for all of us. To be honest.. I believe this whole artist community has and will be built on the shoulders of relatively few determined people. Zeevee was one of the few that I consider in this group and although we all may not have known him first hand, for sure he had an affect on all of us weither we know it or not.
