The Technics/Pioneer image...
The Technics/Pioneer image...
Posted by Gizmo on October 12, 2011 :

technics pioneer cdj 1200 mockup

Seems that my Photoshopping skills have caught the attention of the wider DJ market i.e. the part that cares little for fact and runs off half-cocked spreading rumours with no evidence at all bar a small photoshopped image. So I've added a disclaimer to the above image for those who have a problem dealing with reality. Let me state this plain and clear - THERE IS NO TECHNICS/PIONEER HYBRID TURNTABLE. Not now - not ever. I made it up.

Having had it pointed to me that there's a thread on the Serato forum i.e. the massively trafficked and vibrant DJ community, as well as hearing stories of retailers being called up for prices because they saw it on scratchworks (or some other spelling), I decided it was time to kill the rumours stone dead. I despise rumours with a passion, and especially hate the idea that I could be the root of one.

It's like having to explain the punchline of a joke. I just assumed that everyone got it this time. So to anyone that believed it - I'm sorry. I also can't believe that you thought it could be real either.

Next week, I'll photoshop 4 CDJs ontp a DJM-2000 and call it the DDJ-CDJ, Pioneer's ultimate all in one MIDI controller. Any other requests?

LOL! That's hilarious. I would've expected the tagline "You only think you need this" would make it plainly obvious.
Perhaps this type of stuff is the downside to many of the world's youth having an interest in DJ gear. But on the bright side, have you seen a traffic spike from this? cool.gif

Hard to say Sean. With BPM traffic, I've seen a sustained increase over the last 2 weeks anyway. It's the kind of thing that's likely to grow slowly. Or now drop off completely now I've put the rumour to bed.

hahahahahahaha! that is quite hilarious. this reminds me about the 'lounge thread i made about wanting to bash my skull against the wall after checking out some DJ forums! User forums are for facts and answers, not assumptions and griping.

on a side note.. i hope it brings a lot of extra hits to your site where they can learn the truth. everyone wins!

No, that should about sum it up. I'm sick of these 4 channel mixer / 2 control deck controllers. We need a 4x4 already!!!

Deck switch is a complete pain!

oh come om giz ...
what i was think about was this: how to put the magic creation in a battlestyle postion: the right handed player: no problemo but the left: ay no me gusta!

at least this should make the (hiphopishier) people realize that this is a product straight from the drawing board ...

okay so i already gave myself the answer (gizmoish):

Haha, bless the gullible folks on the internet!

I seem to recall the likes of Citronic and Gemini making just such a turntable/cd hybrid a few years back, with not much market success...

@gizmo

im not dissing your photoshop skills (infact i offered praise for this very picture on the original post) but there are some really obvious flaws in the supposed design of this hybrid deck, these being:

no display screen for track/waveguide information

no master tempo button

no button to actually eject the media from the slot

no scratch platter(assuming the platter included is for vinyl)

and these are not a necessity but seeing as pioneer have included them on every cdj since the original 1000, there are no cue loop functions

like i say im not by any means dissing your skills(i wish i could do anything like that) but merely pointing out that if these idiots were more observent they would have seen this for what it is

this also gives an indication to how people differ. you moved quickly to quash the rumours whereas i would of played the hell out of it just to see how far it would gosmile.gif

respect for causing so much confusion amongst the less savvy of us though

So what you're saying is that people are considerably more stupid that first thought because this deck would never work anyway? That's fighting talk. toung.gif

Now that Pioneer didn't give the Ergo that name you coined (Thingy), I officially give this Giz creation a name, The Thingy!

Funny...when Numark (and other guys) actually made hybrid decks...NO ONE BOUGHT THEM.

I also though the tascam TT-1 was a good hybrid concept but alas...NO ONE BOUGHT THEM.

haha great point gary, as soon as the magic pioneer logo appears people are getting hard on's left right and centre. quite amusing

it would be £3000 a piece too judging by price of cdj2000 and 1210s
