Vestax VCI-300 Serato ITCH controller NAMM 2008

I do my best to keep up with everything that comes out of NAMM but when certain companies don't actually send out official PR, it's a tad hard. So through the grapevine via some bloke down the pub who's cousin's best mate's mum's dentist heard something, news reaches me of a Serato ITCH powered very VCI-100 looking unit called logically the VCI-300.

No real PR as such, just a few lines:
The VCI-300 has excellent compatibility with the new SERATO DJ software and comes with a built-in audio interface with standard 4in/4out and headphone connection, larger & lighter JOG wheels, JOG torque adjustment and other new features!
Available Summer 2008.

... and demo movies on the Vestax Japan site right here.

Looks a bit like a VCI with a paint job and skirts to me, but obviously being ITCH driven means no interface other than plugging into your laptop. What happens after that is anyone's guess. I've asked my guys to get more pictures from all angles and in higher res.

To all those people who are struggling with the security code - I took it off momentarily. 30 seconds later, I'd got 5 spam comments in older posts. It stays on until I can revamp the whole site into something like Wordpress.

More Vestax posts coming...

i found the only reliable way to beat the code was to right-click and view image in a new window... voila, the correct code.

vci... meh. this is going to sound funny as i'm a big fan of moving from vinyl to digital but, you can't play records on any of these things! dvs is the perfect compromise from my point of view - uses the technology i've already got, expands the opportunity for creativity, and it's backwards compatible. plus it uses the industry standard familiar interface of two ttables and a mixer... if i was put in front of one of these at a gig it would take 10 or 15 minutes to get to grips with it.

An audio out? This looks very interesting, wonder if the soundcard is anything decent.

Curious what the price tag is.

Oooohhh...saucy...I like it..I think this one is fo show on my list... :D

vestax - how bout for vci-500 some motorized platters or maybe even better for this unit? Some sort of rotating display like the one in the middle of the dial on the cdj-1000mk3...I personally like looking at my gear & not the dj software that I am using (fyi-serato scratch live) while mixing...

I am keen to know more about the VCI-300.
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of DETAILED info on the net. Plenty of UK stores taking pre-orders at around £480-499 (approx $984). most stores are saying Arpil 2008. Vestax say June 2008. It wouldn't surprise me if it were after the summer.

My main concern is there doesn't appear to be a S/PDIF digital output on the console. I could be wrong, though.
Also, the pitch control appears to only slide up to +6. Again, I could be wrong.

It looks as though I'll have to buy Serato Itch seperately, as it doesn't look anyone is selling them as a package/bundle.
However, I don't have that many details on Itch.
Only that it is a trimmed down version of Scratch.
Any indication of the differences between the two?
What do we lose?

I'd be grateful if anyone out there could shed some light on the questions above. Thanks in advance :)

@RicciRich

Source on Vestax saying June? I was hoping for April.

As for the pitch you can change it within ITCH, since its software based. And there is no way to buy ITCH separately since it only works with VCI-300 and Numark NS7. You'll get ITCH when you buy either of those controllers.

@Ricci Rich

I think ITCH is free, you require the hardware to use it though (NS7 -or- VCI-300)

Oh, does anyone know if ITCH has effects in it, like traktor?
