Time for another teaser. Having broken free from their Stanton contract,
Native Instruments have some hot gear coming out at NAMM - the briefest of brief glimpses I have for you here. I should be getting more info later this week but it won't be released before NAMM. So as ever speculate away - let's see what wackiness you guys can come up with.
Well... MIDI and USB are a somewhat obvious given. But that looks like a grounding screw so that's probably for turntables. 4 channels (A, B, C and D) but what the hell is the hook shaped thingy? To hang it from a chain? First thoughts are a Final Scratchy style box with bells on but part of me is thinking is could be more - like a full on MIDI controller/mixer. Thoughts?
Looks neat
its a mixer to hang up to a wall
thats why there's a hook!! :p
I'm going for the mixer with midicontroler/mixer on it. Kind of like a BCD on stereoids (or however that may write).
Chances are I'll like it, but never buy because it will have the brand defining NI price tag.
obviously that's a usb kitchen sink.
Looks to be some promising hardware.
the hook is to hold a cable that can get unplugged if you accidently pull or trip over it or something - most probably power adapter cable or maybe usb - those that when unplugged will make your system crash and all sound stop.
all I wanna say is: I know who makes this for native...and there is definitly a reason why stanton and native parted..and I guess this is the first step on the way..
more info at NAMM... :P
the teaser train is a very fun train..hehe
(yeah, I can see how you guys hate me now  )
Definitely doesn't look budget!
Future Music seems to feel it's only one part of a "DJ System" - However, leave it to Skratchworx to drop this before anyone!
I'd say the 1 in the Audio Kontrol 1 means something...like "to be continued", or I sure hope so, as the 1 stereo input on their interface does it no good if one wants to use Mixvibes with it. Well it's either that or a clothes' hanger
Is prolly something to compete with what Rane and SSL has: a Rane TTM57SL. I think that silver hook can be used to wrap some cables around to it so if someone tugs on the power cord, its held on by the hook..?
its a mixer that u can play hang man on :P
I would say that the two things on the left has something to do with channel C & D and that the hook is related to the USB. Then there are two midi connections and finally the grounding screw.
Chris Liebing stated, in a German Magazine (fyi Raveline November 2006 Edition), that a full fledged DJ Midi Controller was on its way, so I guess this is it...
Just hope the build quality are good, M-audio style.
From what I can tell it looks like NI expanding their audio i/o boxes. 8 audio channels (Traktor can use 4 virtual decks) & midi ports. The ground post gets me wondering...NI coming out with their own control vinyl perhaps?
i think its some sort of ironing board...

So how come they parted? Just courious.
I know what it is
I think it's a 4 channel DVS with the hook to organize cables....
Am I really the first to get this?! ...It's not a hook or something to wrap cables around, it's a mocked up padlock to be taken as a metaphor for whatever secrets NI has up their sleeves being "unlocked". You guys are probably the same people that called up Mattell and asked where you could buy a hoverboard after you saw them in Back To The Future Prt. II.
a mixer like the mackie d4
LMAO @ Dizzy - I always wanted one of dem hoverboards... and self-lacing shoes! ^_^
it is a turntable midi controller...for sure...
it could be a turntable sending midi signals...i wish technics could build a 1200mkII replica but one that could just be used as a controller....i never understood why they havent moved towards that direction...instead they built a crap cd turntable...or even build scratch live electronics inside turntable
what strikes me is the lack of real interaction on the NI boards, I mean a news like this should produce multiple threads of several thousand replies each, but instead I find more replies here than on their own website forum...is it just me or is it plain strange?
Strange? Not really. Most people wouldn't have a need to go to the NI forums, yet the whole DJ world comes to

i think you're implying that no one uses their crap anymore....which just isn't true.
i still use my scratch amp....for ableton live...wait a minute!?!?
No - I'm not implying that at all. I'm SAYING that only a limited number of people use NI gear compared to the number that visit skratchworx so it's more likely that even non NI users will have an opinion on what the mystery item might be.
and as far as i know, the traktor/fs boards are not that "easily" reachable from NI's website anymore, actually I find them only through searching "traktor forum" in Google...
Hmmmm, Native Instuments end their contract..... I wonder what it is....
btw Johnny, I know you are an Ecler contact of some sort (if I am not mistaken) so would you mind giving some info about this alleged Nuo 4/5 follow up.
I am not interested in knowing exact details, as I guess those are top secret, but more likely if the unit will ever appear as an improved Nuo4 with more MIDI interaction.
Thanks
(sorry for hijacking the thread...)
hmmmm interesting 8)
