So NAMM is in a few weeks and information slowly seeps from within the assorted PR departments around the world. This is the sum total of what M-Audio will give me before the show starts. Let the speculation begin...
I see play, pause and eject buttons and what looks like a loop button as well. And it all looks to be reflected making this a double header. The picture is building isn't it? In the middle, I see 2 rows of 4 knobs which could be EQ plus gain. Are you there yet? Just take a look at a Torq screen shot and it'll tell you that the selection of disco lights in the picture above is a full on Torq controller. That's purely my guess. What do you all think?
I totally agree!!!
Dope.
now thats inovativ and great....in clubs these types are needed because some times the lightjockey shuts the lights and u know the deal...
Graet
I think this is probably a club mixer for your computer (probably using the Torq software). If all the buttons do glow like that it'll be great for DJs all over that have played in a bar or club that is too dark to see your own hands let alone some device on your DJ table.
Personally I think it'd be good to have some glow in the dark control vinyls too- if Torq is going in this direction.
Looks like a MIDI contoler like what Vestax just came out.
Yeah looks like a midi/Torq controller alright.
blerg.
The more stuff like this comes out, the more I wish I could afford all the music i want on vinyl.
It sure looks Torq-ey, that's pretty cool.
the icons are pretty much identical to those used in Torq, I alsa see the looping tools on the bottom right (in red) with the four red buttons being the the 1, 2, 4, 8 quick loops
Will it be a straight MIDI controller that can be used with other software tools? That's what would be the smartest choice. Or it could be a full-on Conectiv replacement that incorporates all the Conectiv stuff with the controller bits we see. Hmmm, that would be cool too, but my guess is the MIDI controller only design since it would seem more versatile.
I might want one since I have been enjoying Torq of late.
So do you guys prefer Torq over Traktor ?
OOOOOO! AHHH!
Litbrite!
I like I like!

Its probably going to compete with the Rane TTM57SL. That means the M-Audio Torq Connective h/w is built into this mixer, and I hope its available as a battle scratch style mixer or 19" rackmount club style mixer.
Probably a MIDI control surface...
Similar to Faderfox; maybe demand has outgrown so much that they had to source to a larger company.
Just speculating here... ^_^
im thinking since torq works as an m-powered pro tools interface
it might be an expansion of that like a protools contoller that you can use for performance and studio work..if you think about it sounds like it would be a good item to market

yeah, kind of like
this
man i pray to god that it is a MIDI control maybe
its a new conectiv box that i would use

glow in the dark control vinyl THAT WOULD BE THE SHIT

i
do alot of house partys no lights just the audio so it gets dark real quick
that would really be dope dj cross+fade! Someone needs to tell Rane that ^_^
But for the M-Audio, I think it's a Midi controller, but it sure is nicely lit!
Man..... Rane should do something about this M-Audio is totally kicking up a notch.....I'm holding back on Torq M-Audio and the only reason is the stability once it's gig worthy.....I'm there
the only thing it can be is a mini controller (in my mind), what i find interseting is the size of the uuit(s). I feel you have two "turntable" units and a mixer unit featured. I think this is like the pro x fade but seperated into different units and greatly expanded on.
This would equate to the faderfox type design but done M-Audio's way
Looks very exiting! They need to get torq back on the shop shelves though. People cant use whats not available!!
i hope this is a torq controller with jog wheels that can be used with any program. just straight midi please!
looks very cool!
It's either a Torq controller or a prop from the next Star Trek film. Do you think it'll have the Connectiv audio functions built in?
Gotta be a MIDI controller with a integrated mixer. Almost like what Vestax is coming out with.
That's it: Numark CDX for sale, anyone interested?
Nope you're all wrong. probably.
Choices...
i. It's something they knocked up for their Xmas tree in December and thought they'd post it here to see how many people would try and guess what it is, then hand the ideas we give them, for nothing, to their design department.
ii. It's the next big thing that will totally change DJing forever ! Which means we won't go out and buy any other companies new kit until this gets released. Which of course won't be for another year and a half at least. Thats what Behringer/Numark would do anyway.
iii. Its their version on a Numark iDJ2 / Vestax VCI 100 on acid.
iv. Talking of Numark release dates, Vestax have released their VCI 100 for 45,000 yen/ 200 quid in Japan. How much is the iDJ2?.. oh, that's not out yet. When was that announced again?
I rekon its choice iii
Happy New Year to you all too
:-)
looks like a litebrite mixed with a cell phone
Whatever it is I hope they swap the play and cue button placement before production to the industry standard (for most dual controllers) CUE on the left, PLAY on the right.
I think I see the shadow of a jog wheel above the row of horizontal light
as well as the shadow of faders against the vertical 4 pack of light-knobs...
i think i see the same thing Dub Cowboy...
i took the image into photoshop to see if i could see anything else by adjusting the levels....
no dice.. guess i'll have to wait till they release more info on Jan 18.
If this is not a controller for torq, then someone is probably going to court in the near future. The controls are almost identical to the controls of the torq virtual interface. This would and could be exiting if the development of torq's drivers and hardware was progressing as fast as the design and marketing of the product.
Mr.eHz, who would be going to court? Even if it is not a controller for Torq (which I am certain it is) its released by the same company that makes Torq. So, are they gonna sue themselves?
I think its a new cd deck and new mixer...dont really know about the brand...although theres been alot of hype on the torq forums about a special surprise coming up on the 18th of this month..it hasnt been said if it a major update to torq or hardware...

Don't think so. Did Apple sue M-Audio when they came out with a control surface that lookid like GarageBand? Nope.
All you guys ooh and ahhing at the lights, have you never considered a gooseneck lamp or something? A Racklight? The thought of a DJ struggling to DJ in the dark phases me.. its always dark! Lighting is probably the easiest and cheapest solution in any rig.
and I see the shadow of the fader but no jog wheel, where am I looking for the jog wheel?
Omg they steal my idea :/

very left side of the pic, its just a shadow (maybe)
Looks like a big brother to the new X-session Pro or something.
At least it's not a Babe-in-a-Box, I'm still waiting for Pioneer to make my dream product...

i agree with everyone here. I think m-audio are about to drop a copy of the xone 3d. I for one dont think it will have an actual mixer in it.....strictly a midi controller for all of torqs many capabilities.
If it is something like the Zone 3D it would be way more affordable. :P
I wish Rane has one of these
I want it
NOW
The more I think about this, the more I think it would be great for spinning Trance and Progressive, since you're not really doing anything with decks that "matters" more than the pitch control and a play button.
House (at least the way bad boy bill does it), techno, breaks, hardcore, d&b, hard dance, rave, or any kind of turntabilism, however, I think decks are still better for...but that's what vinyl control is for.
Add a MacBook and I think m-audio's got a real winner on its hands. Hopefully the new controller will have a dongle built in so you can use a better interface than the Connectiv.
If it works the way I expect, I see one of these, Torq w/ control vinyl, and a FW410 in my near future...yay tax refunds.
Pleaze no mixer! People need controllers! Even though it looks really nice, i'm waiting for an absolutely new and innovative controller. The actual ones are just interim solutions in my mind.
I agree with Grace Kelly, I too will wait. Though, I am a little disapointed with Allen & Heath; they came so close to what we Digital DJ's need. A & H needs to make a Xone 2.5D controller with "crossfader, Mic input(s) & scratch platters".
