I love the digital age. If something doesn't work right first time, you just shout at some programmers and after they've stopped crying (assuming you shouted hard enough), they tap their keyboard repeatedly and out the other end comes a new version. Such is the case with M-Audio and Torq. Not that Torq was running like a bag of spanners, but everything can work just that little bit better. Out of the M-Audio programming factory comes
v1.02.
Still no sign of review copies. I have yet another name to contact in the new year to see if one can be sent our way.
FIRST!
Talking of software control, you managed to get your hands on an iCDX yet Gizmo?
christ when will people stop typing 'FIRST!' etc
does anyone know if serato vinyls are compatible with torq?
if not, where can i get torq-vinyls? preferrably in europe or a store in the US with a good rep overseas.
look this...
www.transformersmovie.com
i want to see optimus prime killing decepticons
the new updates fixed a couple of bugs related to the sync option. also the new update allows quick load times of your music database :D .
to raw deal - no. serato vinyl is not compatible with torq software. however, the first, second, & third generation of ms. pinky vinyl is. i have yet to get my hands on replacement vinyl for torq/connectiv set up.
there are a couple more things i'd like to see in future updates. i can only expect good things to come out of the m-audio camp in the future. good looking out m-audio.
to weaksauce - i agree. i wish people would stop with the FIRST post. i could've sworn gizmo or someone from skratchworx indicated that they would delete the "First" comment if it continued. i'm still waiting. keep the choads off the comments section and leave it to people who really have something to say.
peace

jason_md2020 and oti/cowgirl stop posting stupid comments!
i have the update for torq and now torq works alot better
but now if they only update there vinly for us turntablist
to feel like superseal and better sound whould be nice
For you folks who have had Torq for a while now, how's the scratching on it? Anything close to Serato yet?
yeah i'm looking forward to hearing the real lowdown on torq. i know it's not quite as good as serato, but with all these updates coming down like clockwork it's starting to look very promising!

Do you have the Connectiv & Torq already, cuz if you don't they have a package with the vinyl/cd's included.
I'm also pretty sure you can get them direct from M-Audio's website.
Oh yeah bythe way, Peter Quistgard can bite me.
I disslike Torq software becouse, Serato

software looks better for me, all vinyl DJs needs is a nice "monitor list". Serato "monitors list" offers :
- 2 big nice CLOCKs system for best real time orientation,
- vertical music pulse amplitude consist of:
- different colours of

nare
kick
hi hat....
for better orientation in digital world...
Torq "monitor list": horisontal music pulse amplitude looks for me like vintage spaceship video game with horrible grafic
If Torq will be have real time latence software like Serato, Serato wins for me becouse of THE BEST MONITOR LIST ORIENTATION FOR LIVE MIXING 4 SCRATCH/PARTY DJS
LOL at the guy above ^_^
Peter Quistgard? Sounds familiar. Maybe Cool Edit??
If you google Peter Quistgard, the first result says "all those who have Cool Edit, Fuck You." :D
Hey, but that Torq needs time to mature. I'm still waiting to see what the new year will bring, as there's a lot in the works. Hope to see a review soon, and maybe another review of the latest mixvibes.
why hate when it makes more sense to PREFER.
does the driver include an asio driver?
i'm talking about the driver for conectiv, not torq btw
What about final scratch?

Yes the Connectiv is an ASIO and CoreAudio soundcard. I use it as my normal everyday PC soundcard also (WDM drivers).
I have been using Torq for a while now and I am thoroughly impressed. The scratching feature is excellent, I truly cannot find fault (with my setup). It sounds great from a vinyl emulation perspective. Scribbles/rubs sound bang on, even with low quality MP3s.
The interface takes a bit of getting used to, since there's a lot of stuff packed in there but once you're familiar with it, it is pretty easy to do what you want. The looping section works quite well, the sampler feature is excellent, you can sync sample loops to master tempo or trigger one shot samples on the fly. The built-in effects are pretty good and it also supports VST plug-in effects quite nicely. The killer feature for me was MIDI control. Using any MIDI controller, you simply right click on any function in the sw, then press a corresponding key on the controller - from then on, that feature can be toggled/controlled from that key. Simple but powerful.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with Torq/Conectiv. Considering its a 1.0(.2) they have done an impressively good job of hitting the nail on the head right out of the gate.

so far Serato takes the cake on this one cuse of torqs vinly
my needles skip alot and only on there vinly i have shure m447's
the tank of all needles they wont skip on anything but torqs vinly
and even when they dont skip the sofeware does
i was going to get mixvibes but i got stuck with this cuse i cant take it back
how ever i have seen that torq started acting alot better with everthing when i started overclooking my amd 4800 dual core cpu from 2.4 ghz to 2.850 ghz
the sofeware is not skipping as much and i think and dont know y but its even sounding alitt better
2cut, what the hell do those buttons do. Tanslate.
seriously, 2cut, you deserve props!
2cut make me one

nah transformers are dope enough to be offtopic ^^

Yo 2CuT your custom mixer looks bad!!!
Damn I wish I could read German! You still got to have some balls to start cuting up your TTM and filling it with keyboard parts!?!

Rough translation.....
Some words about the basic idea:
functions from Torq can be controlled via shortcuts.
example: next sample "h", next beat "j", effect "g", etc.
such shortcuts can presumably be used from SSL, FS etc.
I would like to use these keys from the keys, but not be restricted/bound to the TTM57SL, result is my simple mod:
Old, unused USB keyboard.
We just need the USB chip incl. PCB board and cables.
To the PCB we have to solder a 1-cable-cable.
For each connection by cables one function from the keyboard will be triggered. Open a text editor and play around with the keyboard until you find the proper connections, write them down. It can happen that several keys need the same cable, thats why I added connection bridges to the according swiches, which I will show now.
Next step, visit radio shack and buy 12 stateless pushbuttons.
Open the mixer - be warned its your sole responsibility!
Remainnig things to do are obvious. Drill holes for the switches, put the switches into the holes and solder them. After putting back the mixer you can access the functions from the software by pushing the buttons.
Idea was pretty simple, and I thought this wont need a lot of time, but finding the cable-connections and combinations took the longest time. Plus drilling the holes was not easy either. If needed I'll post a vid.
Ohh thnx for the translation @Konix

2 cuts how much would it cost to get mine done :D
50€ for the parts
and 2 Day's of work (your work^^)
It's simple you will make it

How good is real-vinyl-soundquality if you play it through the conectiv?
is it good enough to let real-vinyl-djs play through the conectiv?
(I already had to hear many complaints about "all the wires" and that crap with my MixVibes... If I buy Torq I wanna be sure that I won't have Djs complaining to me all the time about how the conectiv fucks up their soundquality...you know what I mean)
I think we should all pay homage to this great guy: Peter Quistgard!!! 8) He helped me out too!
