COMPETITION: Decksavers - now for THE deck
Posted by Gizmo on July 7, 2010

decksaver technics cover

The purpose of decksavers has been plain and simple - to keep the crap that your life generates away from your expensive shiny gear. Keeping up with trends, Decksavers have tended to cater for the latest gear, but now the ultimate decksaver is here. At last the oldest lump of DJ gear gets some plastic love - behold the Technics decksaver, as well as a few others of note. And I've got some to give away too!

I've lost count of the number of 1200s I've seen without covers. They have a tendency to get shoved in a cupboard, never to be seen again. Or simply left out and battered from corner to corner with cigarette burns and immovable coffee cup rings. So now you can at least replace them with something different, and they come in smoked or clear. They're not as cheap as Technics originals - £49.99, but you do now at least have choice.

Also new to the range are covers for Pioneer EFX-1000 and Denon DN-S3700 units for £35 and £39.99 respectively. Also on the horizon are covers for Rane 56/57, Pioneer CDJ-350, DJM-350 and DJM-2000, as well as one for the Allen & Heath xone:DX. That last one in particular should be an essential purchase if the VCI-300 decksaver is anything to go by.

Get thee to the decksaver site for more info and to buy direct as well.

So that competition I mentioned - I've got a pair of 1200 covers and a 12" mixer cover as well to give away. And simply because I'm staggered at how lazy people are when they have to actually answer an incredibly simple question, I'm only going to tax your braincells as hard as clicking here and sending an email. You can manage that can't you? You've got 4 weeks.

Yeah -- failing to see the point on this one -- but fine.

If you lost your cover it's probably because you didn't give a shit about it in the first place.

The Decksaver covers the whole top side of the unit whereas the normal one lets dust in through the sides.
I was looking at my 1000 covers the other day and wondered why Decksavers hadn't done one for 1210s yet.
I wouldn't pay £50 each for them, but I can see why clubs/ those have lost their own might.

Finally, a decksaver for ALL YOU FANBOYS who still use that...pfft...SL-1200. Don't you MORONS know it is TECHNICALLY INFERIOR to many newer Chinese turntables which just happened to copy 90% of its design?

GET WITH THE TIMES FANBOYS. GEEZ.

@rs

I have both vestax pdx2000mk2-pro and technics 1200

The motor of the pdx makes noise, its wobbly and some records skip when u just play it from beginning to end while on the technics the record plays fine all the way.

The build quality of technics is far superior to any other deck in the world, even the SUPER OEMS. the very low wow and flutter says it all.

You don´t know what u are talking about,The SL-1210 M5G is the king of all decks, period,no discussion.

@jimmy and jayshua: Please don't feed the trolls.

As for the article, it's about damn time they came out with Decksavers for the DN-S3700. Too bad I sold mine a couple of months ago, though; they probably would've bagged me an extra hundred bucks or so.

People - rs is cracking an injoke, one that probably has gone over your heads unless you go to djforums.

@jimmy - what did I say about being nice in the comments?

NOTE: this thread will not descend into a flame war about which is the best deck.

Why not use an old blanket instead of spending so much money for some plastic cover???

On July 8, 2010, Gizmo commented...
An old blanket doesn't protect a 1200 from damage - it's just keeps the dust off.

Kinda BS they make them for SLs, they should make them for the super OEM turntables instead.

On July 8, 2010, Gizmo commented...
Kinda BS? Isn't the 1200 the best selling turntable with 3 million in circulation? While this may be for Technics, I'd say there's a fair chance it'll fit the minority OEMs.

On July 8, 2010, yea commented...
I just meant to say that the market for super OEMs covers isnt ..covered. For the SLs you can buy covers in almost every decent dj related store.

Lots of SLs in circulation for sure, but most tables sold nowadays arent SLs.

Most people with SLs will already have covers anyway and if they dont have them they probable don't want them.

Ummmm.....

I think everyone is forgetting a crucial market segment of ppl here.. those who bought their Technics uses (like myself). The tables were a steal, but alas, no dust covers. And I'll be honest, I have yet to find a SINGLE store here in Phoenix, AZ that carries covers for ANY turntables in stock. Add to that the severe dust problem we face here and I'm more than happy to save up for these.

On July 10, 2010, finetuning commented...
I got rid of the stock 1200 dust covers years ago. But now that I've got other gear and not enough table space the decksaver would make a great table on top of the deck for my midi gear.

And by the looks of it they will fit better than the stock covers. I always hated those hinges.

On July 10, 2010, sinjintek commented...
i am glad that decksavers came out with these, but i hardly use my technics anymore...

and these cost more than i paid for a pair for my last pair of M3Ds with M-447s at the local pawn.

i do wish they would sell a TTX cover, but i think i've said this already a few times.

On July 11, 2010, Jam Burglar commented...
Let me know when they make one for the controller one (i.e. never).

On July 15, 2010, freshfluke commented...
needless to say that my original 1210 covers where demounted even before the first record was running on my turntables...
then they collected dust in cellars, attics etc. until one of them broke b/c some idiot put them together too tightly.
then i was thinking: i wasnt using them during the last 10 years, i probably wont use them during the nxt 10 years, so (to say it with eminem:) i shit on you.

but those decksavers look like they make sense: way better than the originals (you can put sth on the top, b/c it's flat) but pretty expensive though...
