The Traktor Bag - prolly has more pockets than a Serato one or something
Posted by Gizmo on April 1, 2010

traktor bag by udg

Native Instruments are a big company, with some big brands too. Arguably the biggest (at least in our scene) is Traktor, and brand loyalty is strong within the community. Given that at any one time, Traktor is neck and neck sales wise with SSL in Europe (according to my info), you'd understand that the heaving masses of Traktor users might want some branded merch to show off. There has been a small amount of control vinyl released, but a bag has been requested for a looong time. And finally it's here - the Traktor Bag by UDG.

This does appear to be little more than a UDG CourierBag Deluxe, but made to look considerably more attractive and having a big Traktor logo on the front. In reality you could use anything with it, or use it for things other than being a Traktor DJ. Kinda surprised that it's not a Magma bag though.

Anyway, it's available from the NI store and local DJ boutiques from May 3rd for the paltry sum of $89/€79.

Yeah, as if there weren't enough Shure, Technics, etc. bags going around...and considering they were all made to hold vinyl, i'm absolutely certain there weren't any vinyl DJs posturing with them LOL

luckily for me, i'm actually shopping the market for a new bag...maybe NI will be nice enough to grace me with one [hint hint]

@shintech

When i grew up there was only 1 brand,1 way to go,the way it supposed be,nobody was bitchin each other,we all wanted the mighty T. and we respected the dj's playing the original fresh releases.

Most of us didn't have the money for a proper set-up and yet the zero latency times were much more exciting then now.

@Steve... unless this is the very first time you've been to skratchworx, you'll come to understand that as a writer, I'm prone to push the English language around a little and use common vernacular, literary colloquialism and street jive from time to time. This is one such time. Being from England, English is my first and sadly only language, so trust me when I say that I know that the correct verbiage is "probably". But in the context of a DJ website, with a fair following of Yoot mans dem stopping by, I feel it's OK to drop into street talk for comedy effect. Ya get me blud?

You feeling bad because you can't spell Gizmo don't worry about it from the other posts as well it seems that you don't know much about marketing either just brown nosing to get free stuff.

That why you must pay attention in class. LEARN TO SPELL!

Jesus Ckufin Christ, what's with all the hating these days?
@ Jimmy, we get it you don't like Traktor!
Well, no ones forcing you to buy or use it!So there's no need for childish "Your Momma" jokes!
@ West - Are you serious? Gizmo is the man and has done more for the DJ and Turntablist scene than most...and therefore deserves some respect!
If you don't like what or how he writes, then don't stop by :x:
Anywho, Happy Easter everyone.

Back on topic...whilst I (being the Traktorian fanboy that I am) will PROLLY end up buying the bag, I do have some critizism:
1.) Where do I put my KX1?
2.) 79 € for a "normal" courir bag with no Traktor specific pockets or gadgets seems a bit steep! In comparision one can get the new Magma Digi Bag for 89 € which offers more pockets and therefore better organisation!
3.) Why did N.I. go with UDG instead of Magma, who for one also are situated in Germany and secondly do not have any Serato specific items?

:s WOW Jimmy what are you bout 8 years old, it took you around 22 hours to come up with that huh? I bet your dj'n is just as good. 8-)

@west/mad lion - I can spell and punctuate just fine thanks. Are you aggrieved simply because I offered a counter opinion in the Video-SL story?

As for brown nosing to get freebies... oh please. Yes of course I get free stuff - hell you get the fruits of my labours for free too. I work hard and people respect and appreciate what I do. But 95% of the review gear goes back. I never expect to keep a thing. Surely you don't begrudge me the 5% considering it's my arse and my mortgage on the line?

I'm simply a happy, polite and positive kind of guy. Being nice to people really does open many more doors than you might expect. If I have negative points to make, I write them constructively and back them up with positive points.

Gizmo,
No disrespect to you or this site. I am a big fan of the site and have accessed a ton of useful info. on gear thanks to your postings. Personally, I think of this site as a very professional site which I refer others to as often as possible. Hence, I believe things should be presented as professionally as possible. I believe this can be done while still retaining the site's street cred. So, sorry for the thread hijack, and keep on keepin' on!

I have this same bag (sans logo) purchased about 2 years ago from UDG. There does not appear to be anything different about the bag other than the logo. I've even got the same interface pocket with integrated pen holders. I agree with Giz that it probably should have been a Magma bag (for the quality). Mine has all but fallen apart.

I wish that somebody would make a bag that has space enough for a Metric Halo Soundcard, 2 Traktor X1s and a MBP. I guess there ain't enough Traktor/Metric Halo users out there to start a production for that setup :)

Does anybody have suggestions for best rolling or bagpak for such a heavy load? FIY: Metric Halo is approx the size of 2 macbook pros stacked.

yo check out the dj bags from mono. monocase.com is the address, they have some really interesting ideas for djs and musicians. the only problem is they are really expensive

OR you could go the way-side and use rolling attache cases. Swiss Gear worked for me for the past 4 years!

But that'd be too much "selling out".

Whateva!
