The Touchtable - in the palm of your hand... hopefully
Posted by Gizmo on December 7, 2009

While we rampage towards squeezing the regular DJ experience into the smallest space, I thought the optimum size had been reached - until now. MASC Design have managed to compress basic deck functions into a sleek 4 inch square slice of MIDI goodness. Say hi to the
Touchtable.
While others seem hellbent on filling every nook and cranny with knobs and buttons, the Touchtable has just enough to fill the space but still keep things relatively useable. Dominating is the jog wheel - flush with the face and coming with a dual scratch/pitch bend function. It also seems to sport a rather luverly inner LCD ring for position and track info. The Touchtable also has an A/B switch for deck selection as well as looping functions and pitch controls too.

This of course was all the hallmarks of "never going to happen", but for the moment, let's entertain the notion that is might. For example, decks 3 and 4 in Traktor would suddenly get the dinkiest controllers on God's earth, that would certainly fit into a spare corner of anyone's setup. And this does at least nod towards the personal scratch device that I hope will one day appear.
It's as if Apple made a MIDI controller to sit at the side of an iPhone based mixer. Unless there's a suitably matching MASC mixer to go with it, it'll look a tad odd next to anything out there right now. But there's no doubting that it is a stunning looking piece of gear, but time will tell as to if it will actually ever appear.
Good work Thomas - I really do hope it does become a reality.

I think my phone is tapped.
@cgdj - not really. We've all had great ideas. The difference is that the sharper people act on them.

I think it's actually money, not sharpness that allows for action. The only action my money will afford is to be the first one in line to buy one of these gems.
It should be bigger(maybe 20%)
This thing looks super! Please let this become real!

my reply..
I would like a scs3d-like turntable, 8" platter, 2" outer ring(all the way around). So I could finally end this debate about scratching.
So yea,..it's close but still too small, like my dull brain. i was too dumb to know that I was only a molded plastic case, a few photos, and a buddy with a web site away from great invention. Let me know when we some it in ACTion.

I'm playin.8) It's looks cool as hell. I'm just jealous.
...
No needle? Boring...
xDD
...
i would buy 8 of these...
actually just 2 and bring a mixer around for compact functional djing/ scratch sessions
when can i buy? works with serato?
What happened to the tech 12?
i like the look of this a lot. put a 4 inch pitch slider on it and i'd be all over it...i know it wouldn't exactly go with the design but i want one, so come on MASC design, let's get this in the shops, with a pitch slider for <£100 in.....2 weeks?
Throw a internal storage device and this can be the DJ's iPOD. I would buy one lol
@ Wicked....
Tonium Pacemaker?
Throw in a fretless fader cutbox and I'm all for it
This looks like an industrial designers rendering to me.
Has this actually been manufactured (even as a prototype)? Are those real pictures?
I didn't see any specs on their site. Any idea what they expect the resolution will be?
Either way, nice work.
Hey why not releasing a bigger brother of these... same functions just a serious DJ version. 7 or 10" platter, rotating.... and I would buy one... erm two of course
