WIN: MixEmergency v1.4
Posted by Gizmo on November 28, 2009

Inklen's Scratch Live wielding video bending MixEmergency stomps forward, this time to leaping to v1.4 and making a giant leap towards expandability by implementing a plug-in architecture. And it seems like they'll be bringing fresh plug-ins every week too. And to celebrate this, Inklen have offered up a copy of MixEmergency for 1 lucky winner.

Firstly, the official word from Inklen:
MixEmergency 1.4 - now with plug-ins!

Hamilton, New Zealand - November 25, 2009: MixEmergency 1.4 arrives just in time for Christmas, but the most exciting part of its release is what isn't in the application - our new plug-ins!

MixEmergency now supports video effect and transition plug-ins, and over the coming weeks Inklen will feature a "Plug-in of the Week!". Every week there will be a new effect or transition plug-in and users will have the freedom to choose which plug-ins they wish to install. All plug-ins take advantage of the same high-performance graphics technologies that power MixEmergency.

To start users off there are four plug-ins included with the download of the MixEmergency 1.4 update. New plug-ins will be released weekly at www.inklen.com/mixemergency/plugins/ .

For DJs who want more control over their effects and transitions there are now effect and transition presets in MixEmergency 1.4. These presets can be triggered at the click of a button, and, as with almost all of MixEmergency's controls, are MIDI assignable for quick and convenient recall of user's favourite effects and transitions.

New in MixEmergency 1.4:

- Added Effect plug-in support.
- Added Transition plug-in support.
- Added Preset window for effect and transition presets.
- Added new up-fader mixing mode (use the cross-fader and both up-faders to transition).
- Added output window arrangement preference (for example, for use with Matrox TripleHead2Go).
- Added ability to relocate missing files within performance recordings.
- Added presets to the video export window.
- Added configurable global hot-key for the auto-fade function.
- Added input volume slider to recording window.
- Added ability to remove items from the Media Bank.
- Optimised many of the transitions.
- Improved Scratch Live external control behaviour.
- The Preset, Media and Control windows now have the same opacity as the main window.

Bug fixes:

- Fixed audio recording bugs.
- Fixed a bug that caused many of the effects to display incorrectly.
- Fixed bug where effect parameters would smoothly transition when switching effects.
- Fixed RGB Delay effect bug that would cause a single blank frame when first selected.
- Fixed Media window MIDI mapping.
- Fixed Tool-Tip positions within the Media window.
- Fixed Info, Media and Control windows showing during exporting.

And now the competition. While I realise that asking you lot to do any more that send an email usually results in a radically reduced entry, it's only fair that Inklen get something in return for their generosity. So to win, you'll need to tell me the name of the iPhone app that Inklen make.

Drop me a line and be sure to have your answers in before 11th December. In the meantime, partake in the demo and see what this video mixing lark is all about.
