This afternoon has been fun. After coming across some sort of leaked photos of a yet undisclosed Stanton product, it would appear that it is actually public knowledge - if you're a UK retailer that is. The all new
M.207 harks back to Stanton past - 2 channel scratch mixers - with a generous serving of Stanton future - digital tomfoolery with touchy feely controls.
Having waded through
the manual, there's quite a lot to take in. But I've read enough to know that the Stanton M.207 is one seriously creative mixer. It's like a whole melting pot of effects, filters and looping samplers in one highly desirable 2 channel scratch worthy box. Being a simple guy with simple DJ needs, having such an arsenal of creative tools at hand without having to resort to laptops is right up my street. But I'm also imaging the fun that I could have with Traktor Scratch Pro's effects doubled up with the M.207 too.
Assuming it offers solid scratch performance, I could (on paper at least) genuinely see the Stanton M.207 becoming my day to day mixer of choice. It does rather depend on the faders. I hope and pray that there's no proprietary nonsense going on inside and that all 3 channel could be swapped out easily.
Anyway, here's some blurb lifted from the Stanton site:

The M.207 is a two-channel scratch mixer perfect for the club and scratch DJ market, and marks Stanton’s re-entry into the scratch mixer market. Made of heavy gauge stamped steel with a sleek black and silver color scheme, the M.207 has the look and feel that reinforces this mixers high-quality, high-reliability design.
The M.207 is not only reliable, it is also innovative. It includes a unique user interface for controlling effects, the FXGlide™. The FXGlide is a continuous strip touch controller, utilizing the same innovative touch-slider technology that is used in Stanton's DaScratch MIDI Controller. In addition to providing real-time performance capabilities, the FX control can also be automated in real-time. This allows the DJ to create a custom modulation of the FX parameter, and then have that play back instead of the normal sweeping FX.
A new class of frequency dependent effects are also available on the M.207. With this feature, the FX can be applied to any of three specific frequency bands, without affecting the other frequencies. The M.207 also features an integrated phrase/loop sampler, making the M.207 more than just a durable, high-quality mixer. The layout, created by professional DJs… (and there it tails off).
• Rugged steel design
• Soft Start™ feature for no noise when powering on/off
• Integrated digital effects, including phase/flange, echo/strobe, pan/transformer & filters
• Unique FXGlide™ control for real-time control of effects
• Built-in phrase/loop sampler with up to 5 different loops/samples
• New frequency-dependent effects create entirely new sounds unique to the M.207
• Built in sequencer so FXGlide moves can be automated and recalled.
• Adjustable fader curves and fader reverse
• 2 phono/line inputs with fader start
• 3-band EQ per channel with complete KILL(-64dB)
• Pre, Post & Master Headphone cueing w/ FX CUE
• Mic and AUX inputs
• Professional ¼” balanced outputs and RCA main/record outputs
• Powerful headphone amplifier
• 45 mm crossfader - long-life Alpha fader (user replaceable)
• 2 10-segment LED ladder meters
• Striking Black/gray color scheme with blue LED lighted accents
• Ergonomic control layout facilitates tweaking and performance
• Reverse indicator LEDs: The LEDs indicate the status of the fader and crossfader reverse functions
I'm giddy like a flibbertigibbet and quite literally gagging to get my hands on one of these. It's been quite some time since a new scratch mixer came along, and this looks to be a more than worthy successor to the SA-5. WANT… ONE… NOW…
Looks like I won't have to wait too long. UK dealers are showing this for £349 and available in the next week or so. Well done Stanton - here's hoping you have a winner with the M.207.
i've been waiting for a good scratch mixer with build in fx for years but it still doesn't have an optical crossfader.
i hope it's either a pro-x fader or innofader compatible.
Hey everyone,
I got a chance to play with this a few months back, as well as pick the brain's of the guys at Stanton. 1 word-dope. If anyone has any questions, let me know!
Btw-the fader is a pretty high quality Alpha, and is Innofader/Pro X compatible.
Looks like sort of a mashup between the 909 and that Korg with the integrated kaoss pad... interested to see how this turns out for sure.
Are those long throw upfaders?
Finally, finally, finally - A decently priced 2 chnl mixer with efx. And thanx for that tidbit of info about it being PXF & innoFader compatible PBX.
@KT-
They are 60mm faders. I will say that the range of curve adjustment is really wide. I had no problem setting it up so that it had the top 15mm "open" and doing soft fader cuts as if it was a 45mm fader. When set for a quick curve, the line fader cuts as well as the crossfader does. To me it makes sense-this way it throws a bone to the guys asking for a good 2 channel mixer who need to be able to do fine mixing, while at the same time makes scratching totally possible for the battle DJ.
bx sure scratching is possible but the xfader on the 207 will wear out quickly and will cost at least $100 extra to upgrade.
a decent battle mixer with fx still doesn't excist.

@Crossfizzle-
You have not tried it or seen it, so don't make baseless assumptions. The CF on the M207 is actually really good quality. It isn't a PXF or an Innofader, but it will last a good long time and feel quite good. I wouldn't be worried about the longevity- the whole point of the fader compatibility was throwing a bone to the modder community who wants to upgrade.
WTF a cranky Prof. He is the imstupid guy
Um....huh?
Alpha make some nice faders these days. The one in the Urei 1601 was lovely.
@Professorbx: Don't feed the trolls. Just ignore him and he'll go away like a bad smell.
On-topic for a moment, this looks like it'll make a damned good mixer for any kind of music. I'm a trance DJ and I'm looking at this in a whole new light since it's got built-in effects, a clean layout and a low price tag.
Love to see how much it'll cost in Canada

Gizmo, you got good instincts about using the FX on top of Traktor. With dry/wet and parameter control on the slider, you can get any sound you want.
The 207 is nice with the Tablery, and has plenty of features for me to do my morillo impression and let the beats roll.
I've been abusing that CF for months now and it's working perfectly. It can be swapped out.
@ Professorbx are they going to release any 3 or 4 channel dance/house mixers like this one?

Sorry Professorbx for taking the anger on you (And, I was a little boozed last night) for Stanton support failure and their doggedness in never letting anyone freely expressing their problems on their product failures on any forum . BTW, I too hope this product won't disappoint others like the FS2 and 3D did to me.
60mm faders? im a fan, i loved them for mixing when i had my vestax pmc37. but why no lag adjust? and professorbx, wassup with that trade, get at me on skratchlounge
This looks pretty impressive!
where can you get this in the U.S. or online for undr 400.00 USD?
I think Australia and UK gets it first. US pricing is to be decided, but keep your fingers crossed.

Nice to see a new scratch mixer hitting the shelves. Now if only they could bundle those SCS3d control strips with MIDI control. M.307?
Moving those inputs faders and the touch strip together makes some cool mixing. Plus the fx activate is right there too.
I think my aging DJM-909 is getting jealous! At this price you can't really go wrong! Back when PIO released press about new products, I was hoping to see an updated DJM-909 style mixer but the new uhh..umm, "species" proved otherwise! And, my DJM-909 doesn't even have basic pan knobs for each channel! WTF!! Good work Stanton and Giz

This looks like an incredibly formidable mixer- really like how they integrated the touch strip for customizable FX control, almost like a mini KP right there without as much confusion (sometimes difficult to duplicate particular effect on such a wide, random space). Complete kills, innofader compatible, channel pans, FX, sampling, for what I'm guessing is gonna be a pretty inexpensive price compared to what else is out there. Thanks, Stanton.
Thanks for the link to the manual. This is the first mixer I have ever seen that makes me want to buy it instead of my Urei 1601S. Onboard echo and panning effects would be very useful for skratching, the phaser / flanger would be very easy for use to accentuate mixing, and the sampler seems to be reasonably well implemented. I would have to play with one to ensure that it'll do what I want, but I'm pretty impressed.
Most impressive, though, is that the format is first and foremost a skratch mixer. The crossfader and upfader area is completely clear of obstructions. Every other mixer with a sampler and/or effects (including my beloved 1601S) has some crap that gets in your way while cutting. Maybe the sampler equipped vestax 05 is an exception, depending on if you hand hits the sampler button. Well done, Stanton.
Now, I just need them to price and ship it to the states.

I'm just glad they finally lost those F**king fader caps

I hope it comes to canada soon.
I put up a vid using the "transform" effect on the 207.

It's in stock in UK stores now!
