Technology changes at a rate that is hard to keep up with. I was still spinning nothing but vinyl up until a few years ago, but things are different now. Media is dead - even the leaders of the old new school Pioneer have moved on beyond their CD roots. Another company grabbing the entirely digital scene with both hands is DJ Tech. I've got a store room full of their latest digital goodies, so I grabbed the nearest off the top of the pile - the
uSolo - and rinsed it in the reviews spin cycle.
It's certainly a change from the normal stuff I get through the door. There's no laptop, media or audio interfaces required - just good old fashioned playing. Well when I say old fashioned, I mean USB drives of course, but after bunging your music on a drive (a Flash drive is best), you plug it in and you're off.
The uSolo isn't for everyone. Those with fat wallets will no doubt find the idea of such a deck abhorrent to mankind. But regardless of what you might think, you can still rock a crowd on a pair of these. And if you think you can't, you might need to take a cold hard look at your own abilities, rather than those of the uSolo.
Beginners and space efficiency nerds -
read this.
Booooooooooring
I know we need these kinds of reviews too, I'm just waiting on the bigger toys

It's good to remember that most modern hardware for the beginner is a long way from the crappy, easily broken and entirely dodgy belt-drive turntables that plagued the vinyl era.
You really don't have to spend a lot to get a usable set-up these days, and that is a good thing.
Interesting. Cost is usually a good indicator of quality but no longer the rule. Technology is fast closing the gap between quality and low cost. Thanks Giz' I for one appreciate how you cover all ends of the equipment spectrum. Solo, there's no shortage of high dollar goods in this business-You're just reading the wrong write up.......
Could this be used with SSL, if you put the control tone on a usb stick?
I don't see why not.
Hi there Gizmo! Thanx for the review mate!!!
Which one of the following do you recommend better to play from USB Devices:
- Cortex DMix 600
- Numark HDMix
- Gemini CDMP 6000
- DJ Tech U2 Station
I know there are big differences but since I'm on a limited budget I would appreciate your advice!
Thanx in advance. Keep up the good work.
boring? hardly. i highly doubt anyone came into this review thinking we'd see the likes of A&H or Pioneer toppled.
truthfully i don't find myself looking at this from a pure performance perspective...but for the well paying side ventures of mobile djing, the uSolo sounds like a perfect candidate. i'd rather not jock those corporate parties with my primo gear thank you...drunk secretaries requesting T.I. and Gorilla Zoe tend to spill drinks.

i can buy one of these with the payola of a 3hr gig. that's hot.
We will release at the Namm show the uSolo '' PERFORMANCE '' featuring all CDJ400 key features .... and more, a Denon Style one, with everything on board ... and more, only the money we ask for will be less.
Thanks to Gizmo for the review, some other forum banned us as we are '' made in China '', which is the case of a lot of Pro stuff except Pioneer who to keep their Fty out of China working.
