Pioneer CDJ DJM 400 blue case

Pimp my Pioneer? Looks like Westwood or Xzibit got a little busy with this limited edition Pioneer CDJ and DJM-400. Doing a full 180 on the colour wheel, orange lights have been kicked to the curb and replaced with electric blue ones. And the case is tailor made to fit perfectly in the back of a Corsa. Well that is probably not true - but should be.

Jokes aside, it does look like a very tidy setup for busy mobile DJs, especially those playing live gigs in supermarket car parks and custom car shows. And rumours of integal ASBO holder and disabling of playing anything but Techno are yet to be confirmed. Clearly jokes weren't aside for very long there.

Here's the far more serious words from the Pioneer mothership:

Pioneer CDJ DJM 400 blue case
PIONEER DJ TO LAUNCH CDJ-400-K AND DJM-400-K, AS ITS 400 SERIES RECEIVES EXCLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION TREATMENT

21st October 2009: Pioneer today announces exclusive limited edition models of the CDJ-400 multi-player and compact two-channel DJM-400 mixer. Introducing the new-look CDJ-400-K and DJM-400-K: flexible, affordable, performance-packed tools that will soon be available in a limited edition format. These feature a sleek piano-black finish, and are complemented by a cool blue illuminated LED design for both models. This presents a striking variation on the now well-established 400 series, and enables DJs to tailor their colour design to their individual style. The new 400-K set-up will only be available as a special package (that’s dual CDJ-400-Ks and a DJM-400-K) and includes a limited edition PRO-440FLT-B blue and black flight case.

CDJ-400-K Main Features
Versatile USB-friendly digital media playback
The CDJ-400 comes equipped with a USB port. So, besides CD audio and MP3 files from CD, DJs can play MP3 music files that have been copied onto such portable media devices as USB flash memory or USB hard disk drives*1.

Full MIDI control via USB – without a control disc
Virtually all buttons/sliders can send MIDI control data via the USB connection. When the player is connected to a computer, users can DJ, using files derived from PC, with Pioneer DJ software DJS or Serato Scratch Live*2 – without the need for a control disc. The player can also be used as a generic MIDI controller, to control other MIDI compatible PC applications.

Innovative Scratch Jog Effects
In addition to the Digital Jog Break Effects (JET, WAH and ROLL) found in CDJ mode, Pioneer delivers a trio of Scratch Jog Effects, BUBBLE, TRANS and WAH, in vinyl mode. BUBBLE simulates a scratch technique and TRANS is like a rhythmic transform with a cross fader, while the WAH effect resembles the sound of a guitar wah pedal.

Notes: *1 Please note there is no guarantee that all such devices can be powered or operated. The CDJ-400 supports mass storage USB memory, but may not support playback of all USB devices. Copyright protected files cannot be played.
*2 Scratch LIVE is a registered trademark of Serato Audio Research. Pioneer plans to extend the compatibility with other DJ software in the future. Please note that Pioneer does not guarantee the operation of software used on your computer.

DJM-400-K Main Features
Dynamic digital system sports 96kHz/24-bit sampling
The analogue signal input is digitised with a high-quality A/D converter that samples at 96kHz/24-bit via the shortest of communications circuits. Mixing is achieved through 32-bit digital signal processing, resulting in optimum quality without any deterioration of sound.

Wide range of high-quality Beat Effects
Effects that automatically detect the BPM of the music and sync to the beat include Delay, Echo, Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Robot and Roll – all of which are processed at 24-bit for top quality sound. In addition, by using the Beat Select Button, the mixer automatically sets the effect time linked to the BPM.

Three-band isolator, separately equipped for each channel
Both channels house a three-band ‘kill’ (isolator type) EQ that ranges from +9dB to -∞ (infinity) for total sound management and acute creative control.

carl cox is gay,or at least the music is gay ;)

as far as this setup goes,it's ugly as hell and i would sell it asap if i had it and buy an MPC next to my tech 12's. :P

I'm not sure if Carl Cox is gay...and yes...House music was partially pioneered by the gay community. So I guess you're right there :hmm:

I'm liking the "all-in-one" nature of technology these days. This is something I hope to see at around the $2000 price point in N.America...but knowing Pioneer...it's doubtful

This thread is in extreme danger of being edited or closed in the quickest time. If you can't talk about the gear, then don't talk at all.

This looks nice. Blue is my favorite color! I want this to accompany my 1200s.

I'm blue, da-ba-dee... And 1999e actually isn't a bad price for the set.

If they can pull it in under 2000usd, i think it'd be a pretty good buy. Actually kinda like the color-scheme too.

Which will be heavier, this combo or the NS7 in the Numark case?

Isn't this the one that there was a competition to win from TrackItDown.net a few months ago?

On October 22, 2009, dVo commented...
KLH, this will be by far lighter than the NS7 and its case! I am getting back pain just lifting that thing! :(

Mark, don't let these people upset you....

Question though, where and how are the cables going to be connected and routed? Do the top cover entirely detachable?

Currently priced at £1499 for the original '400' package i would think the 'K' package might be the same price mark with the release of the 2000 & 900's coming soon  , the 400's are looking like they'll be the base model for Pioneer. Lets face it, the 200's were dead an age ago. Always wondered if the 200,800MK2 might get rolled out?

I always find it amusing (at times annoying) that while Skratchworx has obviously evolved to include content that relates to DJing as a whole as opposed to just the turntablist, there are those that continue to act as though (in this case) Pioneer's offering is somehow competing with turntables. I don't have to prove my allegiance to the wax (nor does anyone else), but I do own an octagon's worth of 1200's and TTX's yet I can still appreciate advances in DJ technology even if it doesn't relate directly to my preferred setup. Having said that, bashing Carl Cox does not have anything to do with the article posted above.

I also saw this in RED in Hard to find Records catalog

On October 22, 2009, From Karl Detken Pioneer USA commented...
@DJ Ernie In the US they will be only $50 per piece more compared to existing 400s.

@Kosheen: There is a red case in Europe by the same guys that are doing the blue case. There is no RED 400s though. Also the blue case I don't think will be offered in the US just Euro. Probably a straight black case will be the US offering More info on that later.
