Xones corrupted by the dark side
Posted by Gizmo on May 21, 2009

xone new paint job

While the rest of the DJ scene has stuck with the normal dark aesthetic, Allen & Heath's somewhat distinctly industrial looking Xone mixer range image has been very much of an acquired taste, more resembling a science lab than a DJ booth. But the charcoal paintbrush has been wielded big time to drag the Xone range kicking and screaming over to the dark side.

Outside of a paintjob, they're just the same as before. But for many people, they're all of a sudden a lot more attractive.
NEW COLOUR SCHEME FOR XONE :D SERIES

Following the launch of its latest Xone products – the Xone:4D and Xone:22 - in a new storm grey colour scheme, Allen & Heath has decided to alter the colour of related Xone products to bring them in line.

The British manufacturer received positive reactions to the new colour scheme, which was first adopted by the Xone:4D, launched in June 2008, followed by the Xone:22 in January 2009.

Consequently, the Xone:1D and Xone:2D MIDI controllers will be manufactured in the new colour scheme along with the Xone:4D to complete the :D Series, and the Xone:42 USB DJ mixer will join the Xone:22 DJ mixer in grey as Allen & Heath’s entry-level mixers.

The change is purely cosmetic, and there are no alterations to the products’ design or performance. The grey versions are filtering into distribution now and will begin to appear in retail outlets around the globe.

for me the issue with their appearance wasnt so much the silver vs. black thing... but more the different colored lights making the damn thing look like a christmas tree.

I would like to see this happen to the Xone:92 also. =)

I'm with Alkivar on the christmas tree lights thing, but I do prefer the black versions over the silver, all other things equal. Perhaps someone would be so kind as to send me one each of the 4D in silver and black....to "compare"....
