Forgive me, but confusion reigns with this old hack. After Numark peeps categorically stating that the Pro SMX was strictly for the French market, it's now up for grabs - albeit possibly temporarily -
from the Numark site for $599. But before you get out your exchange rate calculator, they only ship within the USA.
But if you can't live without this in your life, perhaps you have a US friend who will buy it an ship it, in which case, that's €461 or £404 plus shipping and customs.
So Numark - do we get one for review? I can most certainly hook up a US reviewer...

I'd pay £404 for one! Also found it
here but cant see that price holding up if any stock actually arrives!
Holy Crap Mark! That's more like it price wise. I can see them selling tons at that price. Order one now and see if they hold that price. I seriously doubt it though. That said, Dell just honoured a load of orders for a mispriced Mini 9 netbook. Lucky punters got them for £99!
Just go for it. I know you loves yer Numarks.
Haha... link gone in 5... 4... 3...

£292 sounds cheaper than $599

FUkken need it...Forget about it im leaving in Spain...im **** up...
Well i hope so more online shop sell it to that price...
the link for weeloop is dead
damn at $599 thats pretty pricey, for a few more dollars id get a rane 56. but however i do like the setup and inputs setup, and the pre or post efx.
it's either this or a hak360 for me.
fuk hak

that's just cold ben.... ice cold
mama said: always be honest. and dont cut on hak mixers.
whats wrong with the hak? its a great mixer imo
don't like hak either, only 1 good fader for a huge price!
This is just another example of how Numark has been shortchanging their dealer base in recent years. When manufacturers start to sell direct it wont be long before retailers start to pull those lines from their shelves and concentrate on selling the brands that have some amount of respect for the dealer netweorks that build their brand image and can talk up their products.
Bit expensive for something of that caliber. I'd rather get a Nuo 3.0 for about the same price. However, if Numark is able to come out with a competent product and it holds its own then maybe the Numark aura will take a brighter direction. We'll see what the reviews say from competent scratch djs.
Aaron - I think the dealer support thing goes both ways.
Our company is building a distribution network from scratch, so the direct sales serves the purpose of allowing DJs to get product from countries where our product isn't available. If a distributor or store in a country supports our product, then we refer sales to them because we know they're the ones out talking about and promoting our product. I've always had a philosophy that you should make it as easy as possible for customers to find out about and purchase your product.
The Numark situation is different. I think they realized after reading Skratchworx that the $799 in the US wasn't going to fly so they dropped the price. And they don't expect dealers to stock the product so they sell it direct.
Businesses also realise that the internet is just a massive shop, where people buy without trying. I spoke with HTFR about the future of retail and they described shopping as the "Sony Centre Effect", where people went to the showroom to try gear out and then go find the best deal online. If the best deal is directly from the manufacturer, then people will most likely go with that. The buyer has confidence in cutting out the middle man and the manufacturer makes the extra profit from a direct sale.
For that price I would rather pay 200.00 more and get a RANE TTM56.
Thats no deal!
TTM56 please.
OK, so what's the verdict?
Is it that you don't believe Numark can make quality gear? At $599, maybe it isn't a bargain, but I'd say it's comparable to the HAK 360 in terms of features and parts quality. The faceplate is very solid, build appears solid, and they most likely use quality parts such as gold plated connectors on the back.
What if the Pro SMX had 3 Innofaders?
While we're on the subject of Numark mixers, Elliot I just installed an innoFader into a Numark X9.
I only have three things to say:
1.

2.

3. 8)
Thanks SpAzZ! 8):D
if it had three innofaders in it for that price, than that would be perfect, and would consider buying one
I'd buy one armed with 3 Innos.
I'd go with the New Xone 02 which has the same features and also comes with the Pro X fade standard, for $499 retail.
Also, I don't really like the power adapter. They should have went with the universal adapter.
