DISTRIBUTIONIn addition to the US, we're also shipping to various distributors throughout the world, mostly from SE Asia and Europe. I've offered direct to start because I see some people just can't wait for the product and I don't derive any joy from depriving DJs. It also may be you can't purchase from someone locally so this is another option.
If you have a store that you normally deal with that will carry the Innofader, it's probably best to wait because most stores will offer some sort of discount for your loyalty. We can't offer discounts on our end and if you don't understand this let's sit down for coffee...
REVIEWSIf anything, I'd prefer knowing about the weak points so we can address them appropriately in our product.
I also commend Gizmo for coming out and admitting getting paid by AI to do branding and website development, and further making an effort to give fair reviews based on his analysis.
I rate the packaging 4/10 :P
Gizmo
I work within the IT hardware industry, its frowned upon to review a product even if you were remotely attached to it. Saying that you have some awesome talent here on your site and i would love to see an independent review here from a normal end user, someone who has a few mixers they can install the unit into and generally give a review that other end users relate to.
Actually I meant the packaging is great, but the graphics and branding + website design is rubbish...... 8)
I'm having hard to understand that webstore, so do you ship to the EU? And is there any date when stores in EU should have these gods gifts stocked?
lay bn - yes we can ship to the EU no problem. We also have distributors throughout the EU. Where are you located?
Tony - unfortunately the reality in the DJ industry is many unnamed magazines will actually give a better review if you pay them for advertising. Sometimes they won't even give you review space unless you regularly advertise with them. On the other hand, some sware to me that they would never even consider connecting editorial coverage with advertising $$$ but I have never seen them put their money where their mouth is.
The financial reality for Gizmo is advertising $$ and web design are what he does to make a living and allows him to provide great news coverage. So I'd say read Gizmo's review along with others to see how they all stack up.
Deft has no connection with Gizmo's web design and branding but I would hope at least I could bribe him to increase his 4/10 score to at least a 5/10. JUST kidding.
Frankly I'm all for quality independent reviews. For example, the AEM-100 review in the former Scratch magazine was a good part of what got the ball rolling on the AEM-100i.
i ordered mine direct yesterday and will be happy to post a review as soon as I gets it. i'll even videotape the install and adjustment adjustments. I did expedited shipping so I'm on pins and needles here.
I just called the german distributor: delivery in 14 days+, maybe more, at least you keep your date in the states
why not send it to one of the other skratchworx writers for review?
quote:
"why not send it to one of the other skratchworx writers for review?

Because they're all rubbish. Especially Deft. I'd have to send a diagram with direction arrows to show him how a fader works.
Gizmo have a high reputation on the web for bringing the truth honest comments about products
Many DJ's around the world will trust Gizmo's words
No doubt
The innofader has not only turned my lazy fader hand into an instrument of German precision, it also added two full inches to to the length of my John Thomas. I'm sleeping better, meeting beautiful women and drinking less. Thanks AudioInnovate!
(check profile for paypal information and accounts receivable invoice)
mu-hu-hu-hahahahah!
(check back for real review with video in about a week sauce)
Sell them fast, sell a lot of them then, get back to work on my small case version, please... :P
I personally wouldn't have any issues with you reviewing it.
But, it would look better to let another set of hands do the review; though i would still like to see your thoughts, if just in a small(or large

) article.
I want one
Hey Giz you could always send it to me, I'll review it!
But seriously, I would trust your opinon on the fader.
late
sureshot
How does it compare to the pro-x-fade?
Long live Skratchworx!!

MIXERS WE WON'T DARE FIT (proprietary electronic and mechanical interfaces)
Rane TTM-56, TTM-57, Pioneer 707 / 909
Audio Innovate, will it fit my Denon DN-X1500?
SO if I bought the AEM-100i from that link would voltage etc. be ok to use in Europe?
Also what kind of tax and shipping would I pay?
Cheers

I say do it. This site is notable for it's rigorous evaluations & honesty of opinion, there is a large body of work to back that up. I'm sure there will be comments regarding Gizmo's motivation for some opinions etc. & this may draw attention away from a eagerly anticipated bit of kit and towards Gizmo, however, full disclosure and subsequent reviews will bare that out.
One thing to note. In legalese saying "While I've had almost nothing to do with the product development" could also mean "I have had something to do with the product development" I know this ain't a courtroom but dealing with the perception of something is far more fatiguing that dealing with the reality.
Either way, I trust Skratchworx and would look forward to a review.
PS. can I put a PXF in it?

what does that "expedited" shipping mean? is it like priority versus economy shipping? so that 115$ will include shipping to eu also?
dj_spark - Please remind me what your "small case" is.
spidermonkey - Please let me know which order you did by order number and I'll keep my eye on it.
PowerOnPlay - AFAIK Denon DN-X1500 doesn't have enough space to fit the Innofader.
Geoff - please note if you order directly from us, we could include the correct power supply for you so you don't need to use an adapter. Just please note this on the order. Pricing includes shipping, but does not include customs fees / VAT which may be assessed on your end. Such taxes are often high and unpredictable so I would recommend you let me know which country you live in and I refer your order to the nearest distributor.
trik - Sorry but you can't fit a PXF inside an Innofader :P.
laban - from the Innofader Warehouse in Taiwan, we ship by Taiwan Post. Express gets to locations in Europe within a few days as long as customs doesn't hold it (unlikely for something so small). Standard mail might take 1-2 weeks. Both have tracking numbers but express often is good if you get nervous easily

.
I ordered an AEM-100i with the innofader from agiprodj.com. When do you think it will arrive there? They told me it would ship the day it arrived and I am dying to get ahold of it.
Audio Innovate -
Ye thats cool about adapter.
Im in Ireland but I think i'm just gonna order straight from you...
Cheers

I actually work with tier 1 PC hardware review sites, I know what advertising revenue will do to some but there are those who report the truth...you just have to search them out.
I fancy one of these faders, I was the first in the UK to own the Rodec Scratchbox fully converted to optical faders and my plan is to compare one against the other. I also own and Sa5 and a Citronic CS:3 which would all be awesome test beds for the innofader.
Im not a prolific poster of dj reviews, infact I only dj as a hobby now, but im keen. I write reviews and guides for the PC enthusiasts. If you are a PC overclocker and you frequent the online forums you have probably read some of my stuff. I work for OCZtechnology, we make memory, SSD drives, psu's etc.
Being based in the UK i would incure VAT if ordered from the states, which UK based resellers will have the unit soon and how much is the MSRP on the unit inc VAT?
If ordering from Europe a state/province is still needed so what should be done? JUst put in a random one or what?
Cheers
Thanks Elliot. Order number is 1243.
Thanks Elliot. Order number is 1244!!!
p.s. - I'm replacing Ecler Eternal in a Nuo3. I feel the Eternal's not as dope as a Vestax PCV for drum-scratching. Tension too loose. I don't have a video-cam, but I'll write up something spiffy.
PEACE!!!
Hey Elliot could you keep me posted on order number 1247 also, thanks.
quote:
"I rate the packaging 4/10 "
the packaging is just fine,it looks better than the vestax pcv..can't wait to open it like a little boy under the christmas tree.
Elliot, when would it be available in Japan? Would "FADER" be the most likely one to get it first? Or PACO?
acerock88: AGI got the Friday August 15th so hit them up
Tony: please feel free to order direct from us since we don't have any orders from UK stores yet. Gizmo can give you an idea of how customs will handle the package. Because it's so small, usually the fees are very low.
Geoff: Yes just put "N/A" for state/province. Unfortunately since the AEM-100i is a medium sized box I can't guarantee how customs will handle the AEM-100i.
spidermonkey, Asan, ronblayze, etc: we're shipping next Monday August 18th for your orders and all orders received on or before Friday August 15th. I'll email tracking details when I have them and ship express if you asked for it.
DJ Yoshi: We don't have disribution in Japan yet so please feel free to order from us directly.
hey giz. how do you think this fader stacks up against the infinium in the scratchbox (which has been hands down the best fader ive ever used)
Hi all, longtime reader first time poster, and Innofader order 1245 (express!!!

. Props to Gizmo and Audio Innovate for all the updates and sexy pictures; hi Deft, from the NI board. Very excited to pop this CF into my 08, and I'm already considering line fader replacement as well.
I have a buddy who's asked me and as such I'm gonna ask here for him - he's got a Vestax PMC-50A mixer and from both of our pokings about we've ascertained it's got a VCA circuit. Will the Innofader fit or can it be modded to fit such a mixer as a crossfader?
Hey TeLLy,
It looks like the PMC-50 uses the same 3 pin connector as the Ecler HAK series line faders. You can try the Ecler 3-pin adapter on the adapter board included with the Innofader. Plug into the test input and make sure the green LED comes on. If the red one comes on, you need to reverse the outside wires on the crossfader cable. Then the green LED should com on.
PowerOnPlay.com - Hey sorry no dice on the Denon DN-X1500 AFAIK.
"Live and Direct", eh? Nice Scooter reference.
Sweet 1250
cant wait!
new aem-100i with innofader at $40 extra. That's very innovative and competitive (whereas e.g. Vestax has used its same pcv fader for 6 years or so?). Nice one!
whath about spain?
how many cost the mixer with iva, aduana and shippin cost?
gracias!
Hey Elliot Marx, i thought you were going to take the click out of the Innofader, What ever happened to that. The fader clicks like crazy.
Elliot,
I placed order #1251 *before* reading all the comments here and am double guessing not paying for expidited shipping. If this order has not yet shipped, can I add expedited shipping please? Please email me at the name this is posted under at gmail dot com.
Thanks!

What's the deal with "clicks" that bcrogan mentioned? Doesn't it have those rubber stoppers at the ends of the rail to make it not "clicky" ?
I guess you guys watched the videos of N.O.S. quite a bit eh?
The mixer he's using is a Stanton SK-2F. The slot is actually smaller than the Innofader's travel distance. So you are hearing the click of the stem against the faceplate since the stem never hits the rubber stoppers on the Innofader.
You could eliminate the clicks either enlarging the slot by filing down the slot or putting some rubber material on the faceplate edge itself to cushion it.
In most installations, the Innofader stem will hit the rubber stoppers and it won't click.

damn. this guy's good.
Just got the shipping info in email, thanks Elliot!
Elliot,
Does the retail Innofader come with the adapter plate for Stanton mixers? I just ordered one and totally forgot that my SA-3 requires an adapter plate (note 1 in the "Mixer fitting chart for the Innofader"

. If not, can I e-mail you my order # so you can add one to it?
Thanks!
Nevermind, I really should read the Innofader site a little more closely.
For those that need a quick answer, yes, it comes with an adaptor plate.
:D
so i was just reading that you cant take off the fader cover to lube the innofader, What kind of terrible design is that? I mean no matter what, if you ever lube a fader, the shere fact that there is going to be any amount of caig oil on the rails will require cleaning. Oil heats up during friction and breaks down. It will then get sticky making the fader hard to travel and eventually after 4-6 months will require to be wiped down and re oiled. How on earth is one supposed to do that without removing the cover. Im sorry but that is a serious design flaw. Just like not including removable line faders on the aem 100-100i mixers. Eventually faders will break down and require replacement but they are soldiered to the friggen board of the mixer. What is going on here? These seem to be serious cost cutting issues here that need to be addressed.
Hey Audio Innovate, I'm looking to replace my Focus Fader in my Stanton SK-One, Will the innofader fit my mixer? Thanks in advance! I can't wait to order one if it's gonna work!
ice wrote: so i was just reading that you cant take off the fader cover to lube the innofader, What kind of terrible design is that? I mean no matter what, if you ever lube a fader, the shere fact that there is going to be any amount of caig oil on the rails will require cleaning.
first off, you may want to think about changing your DJ name. second, it's a non-contact fader. third, you have answered your own question. You don't need to lube the rails. It's a myth/common mistake.
DJ-ICE: Actually the tension adjust washer is made of a self-lubricating material. As it wears down, it leaves a lubricating coating on the rails. The rails are also factory installed with a special oil designed not to break down. I'm not sure where you are getting your info "Oil heats up during friction and breaks down." The oil used on the Innofader rails during factory installation is specifically designed <b>not</b> to break down and get "sticky".
I have a so-called customer PXF that went "sticky". This is actually caused by the conductive plastic material getting onto the brush, not by the rails. And the customer didn't clean the PXF regularly which exacerbated the problem.
I would say perhaps Rane and Infinium faders might have issues with stickiness simply because they are fully exposed, welcoming plenty of dirt and grim which may need to be cleaned often. TKD faders and the Innofader do not have this issue.
You claim "These seem to be serious cost cutting issues here that need to be addressed." The rails alone are more expensive than many TKD CCP faders (Vestax PCV and Numark CP-Pro for example). They are special hardened steel with minimal indentations so they will feel extremely smooth even with age, and you'll notice the difference when your finger motion isn't perfectly along the fader slot. I suggested having the case easy to pry open to the Innofader mechanical engineers, specifically to ease the task of lubing. However, making it easy to open also means that the mechanical design isn't as solid, which defeats our purpose of trying to make a strong fader.
We've had scratch DJs test the Innofader for months. Of course with all of that use the factory installed oil wears low and the fader gets slightly sticky. Philly told me he applied 1 drop of Caig Lube after months of use (the pink fluid specifically designed for plastic-metal contacts) and the Innofader got really slick again.
Regardless, it's pointless for us to argue about exactly how much rail maintenance is required after months or years of use because the Innofader hasn't been out that long. We've specifically designed the fader so that it only requires occasional lubing, and such lubing can easily be done without disassembling the fader.
If there really is an issue at some point where a fader needs to be fully wiped down (who knows, maybe someone spills Coke in it or something

), then we offer a service to take the fader apart, clean it, and put it back together. We wouldn't recommend DJs do this themselves because it's possible the metal tabs will break and we need to replace the case bottom. Not only that, it is very easy to damage the fader internals once you open it. The cost of such a maintenance procedure would be far less than that of a new fader.
Now regarding the AEM-100/AEM-100i line faders: We have actually received 0 service calls with regards to line fader failures or line faders starting to feel sticky. We received about 1-2 calls about bleeding which is easily resolved with adding Caig Lube. In contrast, we've received many calls on the Pro X Fade, mostly from DJs who had bleeding issues and trouble cleaning to fix this.
spidermonkey - Thanks for the backup. See my detailed answer above. Caig Lube definitely isn't necessary for the Innofader to operate, but occasional drops of Caig Lube on the rails definitely makes the fader feel good. And fader manufacturers know better than to use an oil that breaks down in a few months.
L-Train: Yes we got you covered

KENNY0916: The Innofader works in the SK-2, which is also a focus fader mixer, so I don't imagine any problem with the SK-1.
I love my aem 100i dont get me wrong, it is by far one of my most favorite pieces of kit that i have EVER used, and i especially love Elliot's Hands on service and support and activity within the community, I am just upset when i found that you cannot replace the line faders, just because you have not received any calls about the line faders as of yet means nothing, The AEM mixer line is only 2 years old, the 100i only about 1 year old. Line faders are not used to the extent of a cross faders. I know that eventually the line faders will require replacement and when that does occur, it will render the mixer possibly useless. Plus how much extra would it have been to make them removable, i mean the stanton Sk line was probably one of the cheapest mixer lines ever to be built and it had 3 replaceable faders. The SK2's were only 400$ when they first came out as well. I am just worried about the future of my mixer and this is based on 10 years of djing and 7 different mixer lines that i have owned.
As for the innofader, How much would your service cost to clean the innofader when it eventually needs to be cleaned? The mere fact that i would have to send the fader in for maintenance upsets me. Its just like what Apple does by not allowing any kind of user installation of Parts EG= Hard Drives or ram, by making some of their computers impossible to open for the average user like a Macbook pro, Mac Mini, Imac. Its just makes it one more thing that you have to pay for when i am very capable of maintenance myself.
What metal tabs are there that would break you are worried about ? i have seen the innofader pictures and it looked like it would be fairly easy to perform maintenance granted there was a removable case. I mean you dont see many people breaking the magnetic contact on the Rane fader.
DJ-ICE: You also have to remember that the customer service from Apple is top notch. They will have your notebook returned to you in a very timely manner. This is also true of Audio Innovate. If by chance you actually DO ruin the line faders, the unit can be sent back to me for repair, and soldering in a new line fader does not take much time at all. Also keep in mind that the Stanton SK2 doesn't have an effects section either. I do understand your concerns but sometimes things are just better left untouched by the end user

Just some feedback from a dj that actually used the crossfader, and I chose to answer all the questions on here
Deft: the only thing that matters is the crossfader, grafix and webpages ... wtf?
kaliops: I feel smoother then the pro x-fade, and still smooth after you adjust it. best yet no cleaning or soldering
Lundon: The Innofader superbly out performs the Infinium, its just as smooth but its solid, and if you like the Rane ttm youll love the innofader
BCROGAN: the click is not actually the fader, its the mixer plate on my particular mixer its not wide enuff for the fader, but out of the mixer theres is no click, not a big deal anyways, just as long as your not using a stanton, ha ha
Dj ICE: the Innofader is one of the smoothest faders ive use ever it needs no lube, these faders have been heavily tested longer then 4 to 6 months by djs all over the world, so no flaw there. the friction actually is do to dirt collected on the circuit board that brings friction on the faders, there's no contact therefore the crossfader is very smooth and will stay that way, remember the old alps fader, the more you used them the slicker the got. use it before you knock it ;o)
Kenny0916: If you peeped my youtube vid, you should notice that im using a SK-2F that had a focus fader in it, so your mixer is compatible.
Dj Ice: Again, I own a Sk-2F mixer and ive have never had to replace my line faders and I had it for 7 yrs, matter of fact ive never had to replace a line fader period, if you mixer breaks, then you have 2 options thats goes for anything you own, so what are you complaining about, Is Elliot Suppose to fix everything that goes wrong with your stuff ? matter of face is your line faders broke now ? if I say worry bout it when if happens or when it happens, as far as the taking apart the innofader, it was designed specifically so you DONT have to open it thats the point... like I said earlier this fader has been tested for who knows how long, and one of the reasons it was pushed back was due to the feed back from the beta testers, I heard it from Ive been djing for 12 yrs and tested this fader and I stand behind it 100% and you will not have to go inside this crossfader and it has a protective plate to keep the dust and dirt out.
Hey ICE,
All I can say is if you ever get to the point where a line fader breaks, you call us OK? The AEM-100 has been out for almost 3 years (starting January 2006), AEM-100i for almost 2 years (first sales in October 2006). Still not 1 call for broken line faders.
And if you buy the Innofader and absolutely need to open it (which we're still not convinced is even necessary) we'll show you how to do it and let you know all of the things you need to watch out for.
cheers Giz for redirecting me
Order Number: 1255
Now to wait by mailbox..
One question (may have missed it checking the site)
my mixer requires '1' : an adapter plate
does this come bundled ?
@Pete
Yes it comes bundled
Question about order, it had said $250 all up with shipping, but card was charged 364.501 USD

this thing is incredible. i'll write about it after I cut with it for a week.
nice job Elliot.
dude. is that shit sitting in front of my door?
Elliot,
Any chance we can get the date orders made on or after Monday August 18 will be shipped? Thanks!

Hey all,
I made shipments on 8/18 Monday, 8/20 Wednesday, and 8/22 Friday this week and will be providing tracking numbers to each of you tonight for 8/20 and 8/22 shipments.
Pete: The 364.501 is from someone else because I didn't even charge you until now.
Please you guys for any questions specific to your order number (when it shipped, tracking number, payment etc.) email to me directly. Thanks.
oh duhh whoops
it wasnt listed completely yet and i just assumed.
i see it now

Hey all,
I need to apologize ahead of time for what appears to be a production error. Looks like in our interest of getting product out quickly we missed a step on a few Innofaders.
A few of you have reported to me that some parts were missing from the Innofader kit. This is not some clever attempt at saving costs but rather that a few Innofaders accidentally packaged before a bag was inserted into the box.
If for some reason this happened to you please:
1) email me a pic of exactly what you received.
2) explain to me what you think is missing.
I will send out what you need right away.
Thanks all and again my deepest apologies.
Best Regards,
Elliot
i played with the official innofade last night and i must say
a+ A.I.
just great you did a pretty amazing job with this joint
keep up the good work!!!!!!
Hey Elliot can you tell me if you've tried fitting the fader in a DN-X300 2-channel mixer? My buddy has that mixer and we're both planning on picking the fader up but I didn't see any word of it on the pdf file. Thanks!
Hey ELLIOT MARX, what is up with the orders of innofaders that AGIPRODJ was supposed to get, they said there was some mixup at the customs office or they are not even in the country yet. Do you know what is going on? They said they were supposed to be shipped last monday and i still have not received my fader. =(
and Gizmo, the security code access is messed up , i am blatantly inserting the proper security code and it keeps on saying i am not and to hit the back button to reset the code. please fix that.
DJ N.O.S.
have you tried the infinium in the scratchbox?
Lundon, I never used the skratchbox but I have the infinium in the mackie mixers, the Infinium is decent but its not great, to flimsy feeling to me, lack of a better word, when you get a Innofader, remember to thank me later, better yet thank Mr Elliot Marx :D
again...this thing is freakin amazing. everyone go buy one. review to be posted shortly
Spidermonkey’s innofader adventure:
Looks like: an old Alps with a thicker stem (ayo)
Feels like: very clean and lubed pvc (pcv?) stock 07 meets Rane 56 no spring mod.
Is: a digital fader. I didn’t know that.
Installation: I took the fader out of the baggie and the first thing I did was the tension adjust.
You adjust this little crew that connects to the rail. If one was so inclined, you could also drop some lube in there but I really don’t think it needs any....

It might be easier posting it at a site thats not only for registered users. my 2 cents
i first wanna see the full review on scratchworx, then i'll decide 2 place an order or not.

whoops! thanks soulved. i'm not good in internets. here's the full review. audio to be posted later.

At first I thought I was fucked because unlike the pro-x you don’t just unscrew the screw all the way till it falls out. You’ll never find it.
On the innofader the loosest tension is somewhere right in the middle of the tension screw being screwed all the way in or unscrewed all the way out.
Took a little figuring out but I got it after a couple of minutes. The adjustments on the innofader require the slightest of tweaks (rotary dials for cut-off and curve as well as tension) a one-millimeter adjustment to the cut off dial produces a one millimeter-plus adjustment on the cut off point.
I’ve been told by the manufacturer that there are issues with short outs but I’m guessing that has to do with all the adapter board connections required for putting the inno into different kinds of mixers. If you have to use the adapter boards the innofader comes with baggie ties to reduce the chances of catching a wire on something and shorting out
As I’m sure everyone has seen by know, the inno comes with a polarity tester that you plug into the x-fader port of your mixer. Green means a.o.k and red means you better ask somebody. I checked the polarity on my Vestax 05 VCA III with the indicator and got green.
The one and only hiccup I had during the install was a moment or two where the fader wasn’t cutting out at all. But I just reconnected everything and after a squeeze or two with the inno’s out to the mixer in connect (pins into holes and squeezed plastic housing) and it was all good.
I started cutting and didn’t stop for like five hours.
Couple of things:
Like the Ruck says, the skills aren’t in the mixer. Or the crossfader for that matter. I know guys that are clean-cut click monsters that are rocking double-time three-click flares on un-modded alps’
But if you’re like me (God help you,) you’ve been wrecking vestax faders for years trying to replicate that one time you correctly executed an a-mod. Then you might have bought a Rane 56…only to find out that it doesn’t “feel quite right,” especially if you cut hamster and are looking for lots of splashback (when the fader wants to jump back to middle after hitting the side you cut from.)
If you’re super-retarded you might have even bought a HAK 360 only to find that the eternal fader is too light (even when you put led in the fader cap recess and extremely non-eternal…unless you consider eight months an eternity)
I was using a Focus fader version 1 and it was great except you had to credit card mod the cut-off point and the standard complaint that it feels too light (fader mass.)
All I know is that I never have to buy another mixer. The innofader puts you in the driver’s seat when it comes to finding the right feel…cut-off, curve and tension. The accuracy the inno affords will take some getting used to but I’ll close with this:
This groundbreaking device will help you get from where you’re at to where you want to go better than anything I’ve ever seen. (Ten years in the game) The hardest part about adjusting to the new fader for me is forcing myself to relax because I don’t need so much muscle movement/concentration to execute the scratches and combos.
Well done Elliot.
I’m happy to answer any questions deet’s might have.
Hey spidermonkey,
Thanks your full review.
I'll follow up on the issue of "short-outs". Actually you need to be careful when reassembling the mixer because loose pins may short to things unexpectedly. The 2 twist ties we included with the kit will allow you to bind the cables to something secure to prevent things from shorting out.
Electrical tape around exposed cables can also do the trick.
Hey Elliot I wanted to ask once more since I guess you didn't get to see it. Will the Innofader fit a Denon Dn-x300 mixer? I didn't see any word of the mixer on the pdf file on the innofader site so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

having tried and failed to shoehorn the smaller Pro X Fade into a DN-X300 myself, I'd say that the Innofader won't fit either the 100 or 300.
HEY ELLIOT - So i just got my fader today and messed with it for 2 secs before i left for work, for some reason when i losed the fader going counter clockwise it actually made the fader get tighter, what is up with that?
could anyone tell me how the fadercap feels compared to a vestax?
does it feel different when doing crabs for instance?
B Bone
Fader cap feels great ive used the Vestax cap for years and forgot all about it, matter of fact i think the slant on the cap makes it easier to do crabs
i knew no one would read that long ass shit.
On the innofader the loosest tension is somewhere right in the middle of the tension screw being screwed all the way in or unscrewed all the way out.
Spidermonkey - yeah I read every word and even mentally filled in the puncuation that my browser decided to leave out...
I thought this fader was supposed to by around $89. $115 is getting rough for my budget.
we were told it wouldn't cost more than $100 i remember a couple of months ago..now it's $115.
someone is not being honest.

guys...it's capitalism.
beefin over $10(us) for a kick ass x-fader?
get a job young buck.
rane/vestax/u-name'em is straight up about to buy this guy out for eleventy million euroes or have him wacked for fuckin w/ their loot...
ante up or rock watcha got.
spidermonkey don't be such a exaggerating fool.
price check, sheik abdel: Our original price target was much lower. But we made the choice to make the product a quality product rather than just cut out cost to meet the original target. The product now includes very high quality rails for extra smoothness and a full accessory kit.
In the beginning when we first discussed price we had rails which weren't nearly as smooth, and we were talking about selling just the Innofader and not a complete installation kit.
Call it whatever you want; we aim for quality rather than the same nonsense you have seen over and over, where some overeager bean counter gets a hold of the product and cheapens it to the point where it's the same old garbage.
First Impressions
This kit sure comes with a hella lot of hardware. What is all this stuff? Oh, yeah. That’s right. It was made to fit over 30 different models of mixers. RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. The build quality seems top-notch. Weight is heavier than the Ecler Eternal fader. Only thing that makes me bite my lip is the soldering work on the end of the Innofader adaptor. Some have a big blob of solder, while some, have a tiny amount, and another seemingly has just the right amount.
Installation
It took me a long time to figure out: “in the Ecler Eternal case, you would plug in J7 from the Eternal Adapter Board to J11 on the Eternal Adapter Board.” This means the cable is being stuck back into the same board. I was really scared of turning the power back on. I stared at the set-up a long time, re-iterating to myself that normally, it’s a bad idea to be putting a bunch of wires like that back into the PCB.
Well, after I got the Green Light, I was like “Shit. Alright. Let’s go!” So on towards cut-in and curve adjustment. This took multiple, multiple attempts but here it goes. I left the Nuo3’s cut-in and curve knobs at 12 o’clock. Innofader’s cut-in a 7 o’clock, curve (X setting) at 5 o’clock.
With these settings, I then utilized the calibration adaptor.
Now, my *current* comfort setting has my Nuo3’s cut-in at about 1 o’clock, with curve at 3 to 5 o’clock. This gives me a cut-in gap of about 2-3mm w/ a sharp cut towards full dB.
Tension is maybe 1.5mm from all-the-way counterclockwise.
In Use
For the first half hour I did some freestyle scratches to get a feel of it. From there on, I basically just did transform iterations.
It feels grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre’ATE!!!!!!
I bought my first mixer and turntable combination in January 2002. It was a Numark PPD-01 and a Technics SL-1200M3D. A couple months afterwards (after, I saw the Scratch documentary), I copped a Vestax PMC-05 ProII.
Fast forward to the summer of 2005, I obtained an Ecler Nuo3 + Eternal crossfader.
All of a sudden I was developing new combinations w/ ‘Aahhh’ and ‘Fresh’ samples. Un-heralded. Un-fathomable. How-many-fuckin-clicks-was-that?-ah-shit-i-don’t-know!-fuck-it.
But there was one hinderance. Only one. Scratching kicks, snares, and other percussion stabs didn’t feel quite right. The feeling wasn’t as tangible or tactile when compared with the PCV. The Eternal didn’t have the ‘oomph!’ w/ every flick of the wrist that the PCV had.
Every so often I would kick it on the PMC-05. Literally just use it for drumming. At some point (early 2006?) I pretty much abandoned the PMC, and learned to “live with” the Eternal. The Nuo3 had, had, to be the main mixer.
Conclusion
Nuo3 is still the main mixer, but the Eternal fader is no more. I welcome the Innofader, like a brand-new pair of Asics. Fresh last. Fresh insole. Dope, clean laces. Kicks light as shit, but every step feels fulfilling. Nice, smooth stride.
With every click of a transform, it’s a nice, smooth ride.
Haha or you can get get a Vestax a infinum fader for 165.00 (us) or how bout a vestax digital cf for 129.00(us) hmm let me think bout that one:
Innofader:
Never wears out,
Best feeling fader on the market
adapter kit so you dont have to solder anything
never needs to be cleaned
built in curve adjustment
tension adjustment
almost completely universal
and at only 20.00 higher then a pro x fader
not bad at all if you ask me
I hope the chinese customs will let my fader through.
waiting waiting waiting
I apologize Mr. Krimson. You're absolutely right. In the future I will try and reign myself in.
I got one of the incomplete packages last week but I emailed Audio Innovate (Elliot) about it and he had the missing stuff on a plane and on the way to me via Chunghwa Post the very next day. I received the missing stuff last night, namely the fader cap, screwdriver, nifty sticker dealie, and washers, and spent 2 hours testing, installing, and tweakatweaktweaking till I passed out on top of my mixer. Works fantastic on my 08Pro, I've used the Focus v1 and v2, ProX, Rane, Alps, PCV, A&H, and had a tiny bit of play on the Infinium, and this one tops them all IMHO. The weight balance is perfect, the feel bouncing off each side is just right, though I for one liked the oldskool clickity-clicks on my Stanton and Vestax boards. I'm glad the fader cap fits my mixer's colour scheme too, since I'm a very very vain mix DJ. The onboard cut-in adjustment works great with my current mixer's curve and cut adjust, though I did have to do a lot of playing about with that to get it where I want it. Worth every penny and the little added wait; for those complaining about the little added cost, either don't buy it at all (no one said DJing was a cheap hobby) or give it a try, I'm sure you'll have no problem spending the cash once you run it through its paces. I can't wait to get off work and head home to practice on this thing. Thanks Audio Innovate for a great product and the fantastic customer service!
hey TeLLy,
I will put it in my PMC-08 Pro as well. Can you adjust the cut in with the vestax cut control that's already built into the mixer?
I'm not sure if I understood your post correctly.
Thks for explaining.
Scoundrel
@spidermonkey:apology accepted..lol
reading all the first impressions it seems that this really is outperforming the major players on the scene.
when the budget let's me i'll cop one and say goodbye to my little pcv friend

@Scoundrel: Yes, the curve and cut controls on the 08 Pro's front panel work just fine. I have my Innofader set with curve at 6 0'clock and the cut-in set to the bare minimum, then once in the mixer I used the 08's cut-in controls to change the cut-in point. I think I may have to tweak the Inno's curve a touch since at the 6 o'clock setting, when I turn the 08's curve knob all the way to the left, sound on the left deck is at max only when the fader is moved all the way to the left (and same goes for the right deck). I like my curve dipless and I want maximum volume for both decks when the fader is in the middle, so I'm gonna see what I can do about it tonight when I get home.
BTW VERY tight fit in the 08, make sure to use electrical tape to cover any exposed solder points on the fader and adapter board.
ha ha best fader on the planet, :D is all i have to say, i come home and skratch everyday now, feel like i did when I first got my decks and mixer 12 yrs ago. for my negative peeps, TRY IT FIRST.
no dealer in EU still got em?
next week I'll have the money, then I'm gonna place my order straight to you if I can't get it from EU
damn, I CAN'T WAIT :D
SO HAS ANYONE BLOWN THIER MIXERS YET INSTALLING THE INNOFADER? I JUST DID TO MY AEM 1OOI-PXF. I installed it exactly the way i was supposed to, i used the power led board to check voltage, then i used the adapter board for calibration and then i turned the mixer on, I heard buzzing and then poof it blew with a puff of smelly electronic smoke. What should i do. This mixer i just got in January. Has anyone else had similar issues? WTF YO.
my left effect section burned as well but I didn't install Inno yet...

My Innofader finally arrived...yeeeehaw
installed and ready to go
it definitely feels great cutting with it!
...sorry, have to go practice now :P
PS: Big Thanks to Elliot Marx
He has personally helped me a lot with the shipping into China.
Great customer care!
BCROGAN, et. al: I can't empahsize how important it is to INSULATE the Innofader cables during installation. I believe this is what caused the power supply to fry on your mixer. Please get back to my email so we can get this fixed for you.
ransome: please email me support@audioinnovate.com
Elliot, what's the best way to insulate the cables? do you need to tape them off to prevent contact with the mixer's internal circuit boards?
Thanks,
Jeff
Elliot, i ordered my innofader last monday the 25th of august and i never got a tracking number for when my innofader is going to come in from the audio innovate store ive tried to email the audio innovate store but they have yet to reply back to me .My order number is 1263 . Thanx, DJ Sqratchone
elliot, so whats the fastest way for customers in germany? using the link you put up at deejayladen or order from you dirctly
Jeff - good question. The safest way to insulate the cables IMHO is to wrap them with electrical tape on any exposed metal parts, but in some cases it may be cumbersome to wrap everything.
The way we include in the kit is using 2 twist ties. Check the our online manual at
http://www.innofader.com/fitting.php#vca
Thepic we have there is of the insides of an Ecler mixer. Basically the idea is to secure the cables to prevent exposed metal parts from moving in a way that can short to each other.
I would also suggest you read through the owners manual before installation for all of the applicable instructions and warnings:
http://www.innofader.com/fitting.php
Note the Ecler picture I show has a HIGH VOLTAGE power supply JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE FADER. Nuff said, electronics can be dangerous...
I'm going over with BCROGAN about why his AEM-100i failed during installation. I suspect it has something to do with a cable being pulled and shorted. Hopefully we can get a look at his mixer soon to evaluate it. We've produced 200 AEM-100i's with the Innofader and the Innofaders all work fine on them.
Sqratchone - check your email for my response
Ben - Deejayladen in Germany has them in stock so of course it will be much faster for you to order from them

Dag, I'm about to wrap electrical tape all over the soldered joints. (i.e. Innofader mixer-out cable)
I need to get a frickin digital camera.
But........ I..... ... .. . can't, stop-buying-records!!!!!!
just askin, cause I phoned them and they are not in stock, while the staff @deejaylafen has been expecting delivery for one week or so.
Ben - Please try Deejayladen again in a day or two. I'm getting this straightened out right now.
I ordered mine last night :P
So elliot, what are the tricks/settings you think might give the sharpest and the best cut in the nuo 2.0, which cut has been discussed to be too "slow" for fast crabs?
I haven't had no problems with the cut on the factory cross, maybe I ain't just cutting fast enough

Set the cut-in position to about the 3:00 position.
Install the X/Y jumper so you get good cuts on both sides of the fader.
Set the curve to the sharpest possible (about the 2:00 position)
If you want to mix sometimes I'd suggest don't set the Innofader curve so sharp. Maybe try about the 4:00 position or 5:00 position)
hey
built my innofader in my qfo. but i cant get the fader cut-in very short. its about 5mm long and the reverse function of the qfo don't work anymore. any suggestions?
thx
