horrible design...
Is that the same crossfader cap as on the XSP?
horrible!!!!!
The faders look very toy-ish, but I like the fact that there's an xy pad on top of it.
Yeah, I love the touchpad too. I think it will have the same feel as the Novation midi controller serie, and not the Kaoss Pad tough, wich is a shame.
The MSRP according to the site is $749.00 (U.S.)....a bit to pricey methinks...
Way too costly!

Speaking of the Kaoss pad...
It might be high tech, but it does look very toy like.
on the site you can hover over the buttons to tell what functions they are, but anyone know where the headphone jack is?
Way over priced 799.99?
M- Audio was known for making affordable quality product are they crossing over to the dark side?
right on the front!
on the front, just left of the m-audio writing
Horrible design...(waiting for the Native instrument controller)

I guess I was right on the sneak-peek post. It does look like a Star Trek prop!

Oh no  Horrible, toyish design, and extremely overpriced. WTF?!
Then, BCD2000 is still the standard (if you are not rich to buy a Xone 3D). Hope it will appear more DJ controllers, something more professional and robust than BCD2000, but for a reasonable price.
A very BIG......text
Man, everyone is super pissed on the Torq forums. More like outraged. What a disappointment.
Who did M-Audio consult with to come up with the design??? Did they consult with DJs?
For that price, they should at least have a metal face plate so it doesn't look so cheap.

so they left us remix turntablist out the loop on this one
no sampler pads with its own eq no pitch control for the sampler
and it looks like shit

i would not buy it
What are they thinking putting the Jog Wheel way up there

"What are they thinking putting the Jog Wheel way up there"
I was thinking the same thing. When I first saw the pic I though it was upside-down or taken from behind. Guess not.
Got buttons???
I wonder if the trackpad can control the cursor. If so, that is a VERY cool idea.
A very BIG......P.O.S., I ment to say.
Wow, that's disappointingly bad looking. It does look very toyish and I agree the layout seems not ideal. I likied the sneak peek photo better... damn, they hyped this thing up and now its a let down (esp compared to some of the other cool ish posted here today, good looking out Giz!

I like that it has a track pad on the mixer/controller. Although it does look a bit toyish. (Behringer BCD2000!

But looks like every Digital DJ s/w company has to make a controller for thier s/w, which is good. Just need to get Pioneer and Denon to make some too. Although the scratch wheels look a bit out of place. The idea of a controller and mixer all in one doesn't seem to float and mix well for me. I like be able to choose my own mixer, controller and then my Digital DJ software. Maybe M-Audio should have left the mixer out and just made a 19 inch rackmountable controller..? Then you can add thier X-Session Pro or another brand mixer. But where to put the dongle/Connective in?
These are real weak. only my opinion.
This one actually has all the hot buttons for loops and cues and effects. cool
also it has a kensington security spot or whatever on it so you can lock it up! cool
This might be better than the Hercules MKII?
GAWD! Why not incorporate the time code vinyl like the Hercules does?
Where is the S VGA output on these boxes? I do Karaoke out and about and then Video Mixing @ at the club.
still have to wait.
yea!
Hmmm... everyone is dogging this, but I think it is very intriguing. If you have used torq, like me, then you would see that this unit effectively takes everything off the screen and to your fingertips. The design may be toyish, but it looks like it would do well in a dark environment. There is definitely an issue for vinyl DJ's, but seriously, why are we using timecoded vinyl in the first place? To replicate the feel of vinyl, right? Well this is simply not that, and yet another step into the digital dj realm. For those of us using CDJ's, this seems to be a very logical step forward. Now we have the option to ditch a ridiculous amount of gear, and put together a great mix with an incredibly compact system. Not to mention the fact that this is the first time we can laptop DJ without ever touching the laptop (using one interface).
We need to get over the look factor and the vinyl factor and start embracing new ideas if DJ culture is to evolve. I used to be a vinyl purist, but have come to the realization that the days of vinyl are simply not what they used to be.
This may not be the answer to that, but you must agree that it is innovative. I can understand misgivings by those who haven't used torq, because you simply don't realize what this is. I can undertsand the misgivings by those who use torq with vinyl, because this bypasses vinyl completely.
I can't accept the notion that this sucks based on people who aren't familiar with torq, and are judging the unit by the way it looks... and aside from the plastic, I think it looks pretty cool anyway.
Our mission as DJ's is to rock it. The way I see it, this little unit has the potential to do just that.
smart to incorporate a dual stereo out soundcard into the controller...but the controller's build looks a littlebit dodgy...the vestax controller looks much more robust, but it doesn't have a soundcard build in
I think M-audio can possibly salvage this concept by doing a couple of things.
1. Either drop ther price or put it in a metal casing.
2. Create a version that has all the Torq controls like this one, but removes the jog wheels for those of us who want to use the vinyl time code. Instead of the jog wheels, take some pads from the trigger finger, say 4 on each side, and map them to the internal sampler. I think this would make the unit more usefull.
It seems to me the 'digital dj revolution' has brought it's own problems in terms of massive flexibility. There are so many different ways to use the software that it would appear very hard to pitch the matching hardware in the right area to please a lot of people.
It also remains to be seen whether people will pay the big bucks for very high quality MIDI controllers? But in the same breath will say that current stuff is 'toyish'. Things that really don't feel like toys are going to cost a lot - and do you want to pay loads for something that moves a virtual slider on your laptop?
Is it made of chocolate ?
Yep, with Jelly Belly buttons.
"Not my buttons! Not my Gumdrop buttons!"

i think replace the fader caps and its a winner
:d: Good step forward but, I will wait for something more solid with a microphone input and it's own carrying case. I am not to crazy about where M-audio put the jog wheels either. I think Rane or NI will get the job done right the first time up at bat.
Rane- will be a little pricey but the quality will be rock solid.
Native Instrument- I think will win over all.
I want a solid controller with two mic inputs and compatible with any DJ software of my choice. Will pay!!! (reasonable dollars).
Good concept, I hope somebody takes the idea, makes a pro version, (maybe road worthy).
It looks hot in the dark, I saw it at NAMM this weekend, Kero rocked a killer glitch techno set using it.
woeful...
overpriced plastic junk.
they missed it - big time!
this is what I call a complete rip-off!
Does anyone know when this will be avail? How much? NEED ONE ASAP!
I do agree it loooks plastic but I think the midi funtions could be endless. I like the OLD SCHOOL setup of the Vestax vci-100 but if you want to embark into new digital territory this might be it.
ANYONE?
If you're going to try to replace turntable and vinyl then it should be able to take the beating it would take from a turntablist. If you make it high quality I think people will buy it. Now if they're not going after the serious DJ then I guess it doesn't matter if it looks like it was made by Fisher-Price.
Vid just posted, those you subscribe will get an auto download.
Otherwise the link is:

Smaller sized DivX file will be up by tomorrow.
The vid stops half way through can you up it again please? Or give us another link?
Can someone tell me if this thing comes with a soundcard built in?
I ordered mine today and I'm stoked... this is the future right here, and yes quote me on that!
Yeah, it looks like a toy, but the idea is good. This has potential to rip it up. I am stoked about not having to play with the laptop anymore.
I agree, this is the future. Hopefully the next version will look more professional, but appearance aside, if it holds up performance wise this thing should be badass.
Completely agree with nicksmix
Vinyl is a 30 year old mixing format, we deserve some innovation. At the moment I am using X-Sesssion Pro with Torq LE. Its awesome, yes it looks fisher price, but get over that. It's what produces the best results that counts. The fact that this has a soundcard built in makes it very attractive (now I just want a hard drive in there, so only this and my macbook to carry around! The big question is how well will it scratch? Torq is head and shoulders above Traktor. I'm beginning to regret ordering my VCI-100 already...
