Dual iPod mixer... well sort of
It's the future - I'm telling you. Kidz wil b rockin dis on da tube fo shizzle... OK so it's not going to revolutionise the digital DJ market just yet so Serato can sleep easy at night but still, it's worth posting about just so we can see how far the influence of the DJ reaches into the digital realm. Presenting the
mi Jam Mixer - the brand new iPod wonder toy aimed at putting us all out of work and killing the DJ forever. Or so you'd think from some of the rants I read around the scratchernet.
Calm down people - it's not much more than a toy, no matter what the marketing blurb says:
Now here's a great device that really lets you make the music your own. The mi Jam™ Mixer will have you mixing like a DJ in no time and is so portable you can take it anywhere.
The Mixer functions with any digital music device, such as iPod® and MP3 player, and can even work with stereo player and personal computer. Each mi Jam™ Mixer features two scratch discs which work in both directions with a variety of effects.
Also included in the Mixer are two programmed rhythm selection buttons, digital voice, techno effects, tempo and volume controls.
Just like all other mi Jam™ products the Mixer works either as a standalone Mixer or accompanies your favorite music so plug it into your music device and jam away. You can even add the mi Jam™ Stage Mic to add vocals for the complete DJ experience.
The mi Jam™ Mixer is so versatile, portable and easy to use that you can use it to develop your very own sound which you can record onto a PC or similar device and podcast it or add it to your personal blog.
For the record, this thing is going for $40 in some places.
Numark - just where the bloody hell is the iDJ2? And when will someone make a simplified digital deck with a built in quality fader? It's a guaranteed winner - use it in the studio, on the train or waiting in the 3 day queue for the new next gen console to come out... that's what we want and we want it now!
the hell is this?!

I already told you - it's the future! ^_^
ah! right on!

Sold my pair of Technics in favor for this one...NOT!
I will go for it. mainly because of the "techno effects"
it´s a toy not more guys. but a funny one IMO
Link's dead giz
Don't think i need more info though

Instead of toys, kid's nowadays want ipod's a mini mixers for christmas! hehe It's the Future!
Yeah this is defenitely not the same league as SSL or MixVibes but 40$ !?! Probably worth getting anyway. Could come in handy at small house partyz and whatnot.
haha, i like how people are actually seriously considering this and doing a competitive analysis with SSL.
chill, bruhs...'tis but a toy, as previously mentioned.
Where is the xfader?
Who needs a crossfader when you have techno effects and scratch discs that work in not one, but both directions?!
yeah they skipped the introductory single direction version
pitch resolution?
hah
Anything over .01% and I'll flip a shit.
fuk da Wii...i want a Mi for x-mas
Good to know that with the Mi Jam I can mix
likea DJ...dont actually need to be one for this. Now thats technology.
Kinda funny really. I cant wait to develop my own sounds with this!
Will they be doing a stripped down version for beginers
It looks suspiciously like a stormtrooper's bum.
hmmm

If you can customize the scratch plates to make'em look like female breasts, I'm getting one.
I hope people start hiring DJ's that would actually show up with equipment like this so they can have their party ruined and people will respect real DJ's a bit more (and not try and nickel & dime us to death). It's like a caterer showing up with an EZ-Bake oven lol.
I played with this and all it is is a cheesy effect box. It is not an ipod mix or any sort of real DJ thing. Just a fun toy. Like those keychain effects things, machine gun, siren wow!!
It is a toy. No usb connections
It's not actually a mixer at all guys. I found a toy that seems OEM to this thing at a garage sale. The faders are tempo (for the shitty beats) and volume. Turning the platters trigger a couple samples of scratching (they're basically just buttons). There is a mic input which is where you could hook up an iPod, which is what this thing is touted as being compatable with...
The marketing bullshit behind this product is unbelievable.
Did you actually try this thing? According to the last comment by Freako Suave, this thing is really just crap. Might not've been the exact same model, but anyway.
Do you know whether you can actually scratch external audio input? (From own or friends' experience, not any kind of marketing)
If you can't, it's just crap.
I just bought this piece of shit....thanx for ruining my fucking fun u assholes, niggs!!!

This is not dj equipment! It's just a toy! It will not put you out of business. If anything, it will spark interest in the industry and remind people how much a professional dj adds to an event. It might just inspire people to hire pro's and open up a whole new customer base.
And diz- Work on your customer service skills!
Well meowmeowkitty, my clients don't read Skratchworx, and my customer service skills are fine, and the clients I work with are willing to pay what I charge, and the ones that aren't I send packing. I'm not even sure what the hell you're talking about. And how is what I said in my previous post in any way related to customer service skills. I've had many a potential client try to nickel and dime me for every last dollar but I stand firm on my rates and If they don't hire me because they're looking for a discount DJ then I gracefully decline their business. And guess what, eventually I get a client that IS willing to pay my rates. That's not poor customer service skills, it's called running a business. If I explain to potential clients the dangers of hiring a discount DJ and then they go ahead and hire them anyways despite my warnings then best of luck to them. And perhaps they'll learn their lesson and think twice about skimping out on the next DJ they hire. By the way your post basically stated the same thing I just said so YOU need to work on YOUR customer service skills. Think before you speak moron!
dis thing only plays som sound while your music is playing. it suks i had fun for like 10 mins. its funner taken apart than actually usin it.
