The first weekend in September just got a whole lot busier in good old London village. Firstly, it's PLASA 2006 as well as the DMC World finals in the same weekend (and almost the same postcode). So now there's a good reason to make a very long weekend of it.
Having covered Roc Raida's Gong Battle for Supremacy back in April, people commented on how cool it would be to bring it over the ocean to Europe. So those bloody
Eclectic Breaks do-gooders have only gone and done just that. People - I give you the European Gong Battle for Supremacy.

So that's how it goes. With the DMC finals starting on the following Sunday, it's likely that there's going to be some real skills converging on London for the weekend so this could be a chance to see some of the greatest names taking part. With there being no bar on nationality, residency or citizenship, it's innevitable that you will see a whole mixture of international DJs really going for it - a proper melting pot of global skratch skills in one small club in London.
And I just remembered the Gemini battle at PLASA on the Sunday. Battles seem to be like London buses.

Wow... they seem to have used our DMC Battle For World Supremacy title..
Someone has no knowledge on this history of battling if they think DMC was the first to use that name.
I may be wrong but wasn't it used at the New Music Seminar back in the 80's and 90's?
it was used then, but we asked permission to use this title and had it cleared.
Actually I think you will find the 'battle for world supremacy' is a term first used by the NMS battles of the 80's then by the ITF competitions and then by DMC and now by Gong and numerous competitions around the world.
It is not a registered trademark of DMC Limited nor do DMC Limited have any exlcusive rights to the use of the term. There can be no confusion between a battle which has run for over 20 years and another battle which started in April 2006.
If DMC have any issue's, surely they should have taken issue back in April 2006.

Maybe the DMC Supremacy champion could battle the Raida Supremacy champion for the Skratchworx total world dominance title. Round my gaff - I'll make tea and film the whole thing. Just an idea... ^_^

Sadly, I have no big sponsors to provide flat screen TVs and the like. They'll have to slum it Yorkshire stylee and like it. And you can wine and dine your own champions as well - I haven't enough floor space for everyone. Maybe a tent in the back field?
Ok so if you set up the tent then I'm going to have to find jobs for all those sheep you got up north? Could I charge some of the sheep entrance fee's?
Oh and I only drink Earl Grey or Darjeelling, no milk thanks.
Is there some banner space in the loo's? We need the shed to sell the merchandise........

i'm judging at this competition, just so heads know.
I got plenty of tents and camping gear here in OZ. Will bring it along with the BBQ.
Then we will have a Turntablist Cook off for Total Universe Domination.
Um...yes the Gong Battle is a cool idear more cool and interesting idears need to be tried and implimented in Turntable Battles.
Here in Australia there is sadly a lack of Battles except for a very few underground ones and the yearly DMC. It's time to move with the growing Dj and be different!!!
