$140?! That's a lot for a bag.
YESS! first post. nice bags tho...really.
I think that is an ok price if the bag is worth it... Anyone here used them yet? I heard there are a few in demo floating around.
they look great, but what if you want to hold a mixer or cd player aswell?
sounds very nice but fu**ing expensive
Might consider this if I can find something nice to swallow the 909 too - I bought that noisy stylus/magma bags a year or so ago and it was the biggest turd ever - virtually all the plastic clips snapped if you loaded it too heavily, and because the mixer was stored vertically, either the curve adjust knobs or the grounding posts took a beating whenever you put it down (despite a couple of extra layers of padding I addded) - it cost nearly £80 as well!
These look really, really nice though, but I might have an explore about and see what other options there are - the Gig Skinz bags look nice, as does the Odyssey one - import duty and shipping fees to the UK could be a pain in the hoop though...
DM - I can get Gigskinz bags for you if you want. Don't know about Odyssey though.
I got a Technics bag and it has a special removable inner case for a laptop and suitable pockets for SSL. And i payed 60 us dollars for it.
It feels a bit like someone is trying to make money out of the hype...
They look real nice like, but for your buck the gig skinz bag seems the better option
i won't mind getting 1 of these to cart around my mixer and efx500 safely rather then with my backpack and the 2 mashed in there together
they do look fantastic, but $140? Expensive stuff...
I'm cool with the price if it is well made. I want a comfortable backpack style bag that can also be carried via a handle.
As for space for a mixer, I plan on getting a hard carrying case for my mixer (padded to the brim on the inside, of course). I don't mind carrying a case and wearing a backpack on the way to a gig.
Doesn't sound too expensive to me at all. We're talking about protecting your investment in a laptop, serato, headphones, etc. - are you really going to skimp on the price and risk your gear getting damaged if you drop the bag, or water damage from rain seeping in the shitty material?
I didn't think so!!
You spent $1000+ for your laptop, and $599 for SSL, not to mention thousands of dollars on records & music. So why is spending a little over $100 for a protective case considered "too expensive?" With bags, you get what you pay for - when you spend a couple extra bucks, you typically get a bag that can make it through the rigors of touring... When you go the cheap route, look out, because they are notorious for falling apart and losing their shape.
I learned this lesson the hard way by using a cheap-as-shit trolley record bag to travel across country to play a gig... At my first stopover, the bag was already a mushy pile of fabric, and then the plastic stand on it snapped off when I was dragging the bag, and flew 10 feet into the air. I was sweating on the way back, because I had to take a commuter plane, and they didn't allow carry-on!
save your money by spending more up-front. How many mixers did you blow through before you bought something more expensive that was built to last? In my case I bought a crappy numark, then a crappy technics mixer, then I bought a rane ttm-54 which I have had for the last 6 or 7 years (bought it the month it came out - whenever that was). In my case I spent nearly $600 to learn this lesson for myself.
spend the extra cash and be happy with your purchse for years to come.
side note: I am amazed with ranes quality; in the time I have had my 54 I have replaced the crossfader only once and this is with it being used HARD for over 20 hours a week, every week I have owned it (I am a working dj). I look forward to ordering a 57 when the NEXT version comes out (59??)and will be happy to fork over the money so long as its sub $2G. Rane is a great example of spending more now saves you even more with time.
Again, I am cool with the price if it is well-made. I looked over the site a bit more today, and I think I am going to order their backpack style on payday (next wednesday

). I think it looks a lot cleaner and better laid out than a lot of the other ones on the market, and it seems very well padded and well-designed. It is the perfect solution for my needs.
Now, to just save up for a TTM57SL and a case for it, and I will be all set. I bring my own mixer when I perform but if they have a permanent install mixer, I plan on keeping my SL1 with me just in case.
